How long does it usually take you? It took me all of 45 mintues to an hour yesterday :perplexed

I'm about 4 months post... I see why some women wash only twice a month. If its like that, I will too, lol... I have a whirlpool tub and there's a little seating area. I swear I had to sit down a few times to untagle my hair.

I also found out that I MUST detangle on dry hair, otherwise I get a lot of breakage, Yikes! Maybe that'll help next time.

im natural but it only takes me 30 minutes(at most) to wash, condition and detangle my hair

(mainly becuz my hair stays in twists and i pre-poo with oil before the whole process)

Yeah it doesn't take me as long when I do my daughter's hair either, she's natural also

It seemed to take forever and I couldn't really say coz I didn't time it, but I couldn't imagine washing it all in one mass. I'd probably still be washing it if I washed it all in one mass.

Washing in small twists or braids is what makes sense to me. I have washed this way for years. I tried the washing in sections in April and hated how long it took, plus I didn't have easy access to my scalp like I do when in many small twists, nor did I feel as clean as I do when I wash in twists. Also the combing in between was too much like hard work. In twists, I shampoo, rinse, condition, rinse, ACV rinse. DONE. No combing, detangling...no fuss.

I wash in 4 big braids and I'm done in about 30 minutes top. And that's including shampooing twice, then conditioning and detangling (denman) with conditioner in and then rebraiding again (finger detangle dry first). Was this your first time trying it? If so you will definitely fine tune your technique and narrow it down in no time.

Yeah that was my first time doing it successfully, lol..

The new growth and nape was a breeze actually, it was just my ends that were a tangled mess.

Now that my hair is longer, I wash in sections as well. I mist my hair with some water, detangle with my fingers, put in about 7-8 braids, then wash and condition. Yesterday, I deep conditioned and after I applied it to my hair I put the braids into twists. When I was ready to rinse out, I did it twist by twist. I actually loosened each twist because I hate leaving conditioner in my hair. I put a leave-in on my hair, then braided it back. the only thing that takes long for me is rinsing out conditioners.

I don't detangle my hair when it's wet as well. It causes too much breakage.

I think I'll do that next time. I might do it this weekend just to see how I like it, thanks...

On another note I was looking at my new growth and think I love the texture of my natural hair. I'm playing with the idea of going natural...

Hrm, I wash/detangle all in one session, and it takes 45 to an hour - and it's taken that long pretty consistently, even as my hair has gotten longer.

I wash my hair in 4-5 sections. From shampoo to rinsing out conditioner, it takes me about 10 minutes (this does not include the time I sit under the dryer for deep conditioning). I don't repeat the shampoo step like a lot of others do, unless I really need it.

It doesn't take me long. I don't braid my hair into sections; I just use four BSS clips to hold my hair in sections.

The whole "braid it up, then wash" thing took forever. Once I switched to using clips, it was a breeze.

I wash hair twice, condition (with a plastic cap for about 1-1/2 hours without heat), and detangle it in 7 braids, plus I use Infusium 23 (Repairology) as a detangler. I've never timed the whole process, but I don't feel it takes long at all.

In fact, I don't mind doing it whenever I have the time because braiding my hair in sections keeps the detangling down to a minimum.

Yea, I only lather once as well. I've found it unnecessary to do more than that for my hair, too drying even w/sulfate-free poo.

3 sections w clips, it takes about 20 minutes sometimes i feel like im wasting too much water but my hair is happy. i dont know what would happen if they ever started water rationing in california i would be SCREWED!

I'm natural and it takes me about 30 minutes. I will have 4 sections that clipped up and take down and wash each section. Took me that long when I was relaxed too. However, I washed less frequently and I shampoo'd twice.

45 mins max, and that includes the DC. I love washing in sections, wash day on my loose hair was a nightmare without this method!

I have tried many ways. Currently, Iwash in 3 sections (back, left, right).
Last weekend, I didn't even do them at the same time.
I did the back, with some shampoo and lots of conditioner. (took about 10 minutes)
then I went downstairs, combed through it and plaited it and secured it with a ponytail holder.

Came back, and did the back, with some shampoo and lots of conditioner. (took about 10 minutes) went downstairs, combed through it and plaited it and secured it with a ponytail holder.

Came back and repeated with the left section.

I liked doing it this way.

My hair tends to dry quickly if I wash it all at once. Which makes me have to come back and run my head under the water again anyway. So this just simplified the process.

I dont wash in sections, i condition and detangle in sections though and i lose very little hair that way, my hair is only SL anyway so maybe thats why but i haven't seen the need to wash in sections YET. The way i do it, it doesn't take me much longer than it usually would.

I don't wash in sections but I am thinking of trying it out soon and this is exactly how I plan to do it... not only to save time but to save my hair.

I have fine hair and cringe at the thought of braiding and unbraiding my wet/damp hair... I can hear the tearing sounds, already! :lachen::lachen:

The closest I come to braiding my damp hair is when I do braidouts and then my hair is 80% dry so it's more dry than damp.

I do a pre-poo first with Amla oil or conditioner for about 1 hour. Next, I detangle with hands and put my hair in 8 plaits and wash/condition. It takes about an hour for the wash/conditioning part.

Like Mook's Hair, I have also tried different ways of washing my hair in sections. I started washing my hair in sections because my hair texture is fine and as it gets longer the pressure of the water and washing my hair in mass I found myself unncessarily losing hair.

I experimented by parting my hair into four sections and shampooing and conditioning each section using clips. I loved the method but it was too time consuming.

Then I saw the you tube on the woman with mid back 4B hair and she gave instructions on washing. While she did not show exactly how she washed her hair it appeared that she washed her hair in braids. So I started to do this. Since I started to shampoo and condition my hair in braids, this has made a big difference especially in time.

Best,
Almond Eyes
