I don't want to be objectifying you but you do have a different look. You are also taller than average, intelligent, and not about a lot of BS. I do feel like that a lot but I'm working on creating new positive experiences here to replace my negative outlook on the la dating scene.
I would never consider myself wise so thank you for that both of you. I am 23, which is young, so there are still some things I'm working on (uh, tact
). I'm trying to progress but sometimes I just can't help myself.
I think I've said before somewhere that I stand out from the crowd physically. I've always gone to school with shorter, thinner, paler, longer haired girls. So obviously a dark skinned, afro wearing, tall, big chick is going to look a bit "unfamiliar". And maybe that's part of the reason I don't get approached here. I'm sure it's a combination of things but that seems to be one of them.

How tall are you? I ask because it reminds me my sister and I. She is 6'2, afro puff wearing and thick (for some reason Mexican guys love her!) Guys that approach her are always shorter than her. Her husband is 6'. I on the other hand am almost 5'6 and my dh is 6'6" and tall guys always approach me. (I get approached by white guys A LOT and brothers that I am old enough to have given birth to or they are old enough to be my grandpa) We talk and laugh about it all the time!

Oh wow, I'm not nearly as tall as your sister. I'm about 5'8" and with heels I'm usually just about 6 feet tall. I wish short guys or tall guys or some guys at all approached me LOL. What I have noticed is that it seems like guys tend to like "petite" women...doesn't necessarily mean short...just that they take up less space.
I make a lot of generalizations about men, which is so against my general life principles, and I still can't say for sure what the issue really is. Could be I'm too dark, or too tall, or too fat, or too loud, or too nappy, or I exude bad vibes, or I just don't seem inviting enough. It could be anything really. I find it weird that I don't get approached at all, but if I keep trying to analyze every little thing I'll go crazy. I'm just going to focus on the positive.

Ok, I see! I understand re the "petite/less room"...that would describe me (small bone structure/125 lbs). My brother is the opposite of dh, he won't date a woman unless she is 5'8" and...ahem...got SOME meat on her bones (for lack of a good description). Oh well...

We all need to continue working on ourselves...right? I say don't over analyze and just do you...that is ALWAYS the best way.
You need a strong man who can "Meet you in the mind", when you meet/marry him you will probably be a "Power" couple. I think men know when they can't "Handle it" and KIM!?
