No More Shampoo

I didn't read the whole article, but I know what she's talking about as far as her hair thriving. I only shampoo when I get do a touch up. The rest of the time it's cowashing, dcing, or just rinsing. My hair is loving this.:yep: I haven't used shampoo on a regular in over 6 months.

I love shampoo on my scalp, particularly non-creamy shampoos. I hate conditioner on my scalp. I hate baking soda anywhere on me. I don't think I could ever be w/o shampoo. I can CW in between my poos but I have got to have shampoo massaged into my head skin!

I'm a no shampooer myself. Haven't touched traditional shampoos since Jan. I do use shikakai powder once in a while as an alternative.

I like shampooing, but i don't like sulfates. My regular poos are Jason's Aloe Vera and Abba Pure Gentle.

I don't use shampoo either. Once I stopped using shampoo my hair seemed thrive. I like to rinse with acv. I use a very little of course.:yep:

I like shampoo, and I'm taking a break from it for a while, i'm suppose to be cowashing but i've been using sulfate free shampoo.....but i'm going to completely co-wash for the whole summer and see how I like it, at first my hair doesn't like it, but I'm going to try it again.....thanks for the article.....

I hate shampoo too but I don't know a good conditioner alternative. Any one have some suggestions??

I have been using Hair One from Sally's (and shampooing only when my hair feels really dirty or I sweat a lot) since I got my BKT because I have had a hard time finding salt-free shampoos. A lot of people swear by WEN products, and it's my understanding that Hair One is pretty much a WEN knockoff. I've never used WEN, but I have to say that I am very happy with the Hair One.

I like a little non-sulfate poo on my scalp once per week because I sweat a lot when I work out. If I didn't sweat so much, I think I could go poo free... I avoid sulfates like the plague...

Really? I'ma have to look into that. I was going to purchase Wen after I used up my current conditioners.

I use Vatika shampoo and its ok. I use it every now and then, but am happy co-washing and using baking soda to cleanse.

I've tried to cut down on shampoo, but nothing really cleanses my hair like shampoo. I tried a baking soda rinse last night but still ended up following up with Nexxus Therappe.

So until I find a comparible alternative, I try to stick with sulfate-free shampoos like Aveda.

There's just nothing like clarified hair and a hot, hour long DC :lick:.

I have also stopped using shampoo. It's been about 1.5 months since my hair has seen shampoo. I used baking soda for the first few weeks. After the second week (same as in the article) I thought I was about to start shampooing again because I noticed a stinky, funky smell coming from my scalp. My head was itching like crazy and I was sure I needed to shampoo. I instead continued with the baking soda and conditioner washes. NOW: my scalp is no longer itching and I have no smell. I don't need to spray my scalp like I used to to keep my newgrowth soft (currently in braid extensions). I can also go longer without washing my braids. When I would use shampoo, I would need to either cover up the smell, or shampoo my hair because I couldn't stand having a so called "dirty" scalp. I haven't used baking soda in about 1.5 weeks, I've only been conditioner washing. My scalp doesn't have any buildup or smell. I love it!!

I would love to know how to use baking soda and also ACV in my hair.

How does one rinse with ACV?

I need to get off shampoo. Just discovered my beloved CON has sodium hydroxide in it's ingredients.

Has anyone tried liquid african black soap?

Does this include shampoo bars? I haven't read the article yet. Because I really like the Aritha shampoo bar with coconut oil. My hair feels moisturized and oiled.
