I know there are five million posts about this but I still can't get a clear understanding of how this should be used.

Could a few of you please tell me your regimen with this product. I am trying to use it because I have weird tacky or sticky ends. I will be trimming my hair liberally this weekend but I want to try this first. So tell me how you use it.....

TIA

I use this product every week faithfully.:grin::grin: I mix it with ORS replinishing conditioner and my hair ALWAYS comes out silky and SUPER detangled. I feel it working the second I apply it to my hair! :spinning: I let it sit for at least 30 minutes to an hour with a heated cap. My ends have never been silkier.:yep::yep:

Is this product meant for relaxed heads?? I tried it on my natral hair and my hair laughed at it...it did absolutly nothing for me.

thanks lexi for sharing. I am going to purchase a bottle this week to try out b/c my hair needs it.

Thanks Lexi. Which one? Do you mix the conditioner treatment (the one that says it to leave on for 30 seconds) with ORS or the Deep Treatment? I am still trying to figure it out. I purchased the one that is called the 1st step. I could not get any straight answers at the beauty supply store.

You're welcome, are you going to use it by itself? I've never gotten good results by using it by itself.

You're welcome! I use the one that says 1st step and it says pH level 4.5 and it looks like this:

Hey there,

I am going to use it with an ORS packet. Target has a three pack for $3.19. I will pick both of them up this weekend and do the treatment on wash day Sunday. I sure hope the combo works for me b/c my hair is making me go bananas right now:wallbash::wallbash:

I used this one for the first time this weekend after my clear rinse. I mixed it with Motions Oil Moisturizer Silk Protein Conditioner and Panteen Moisture Mask. Sat under the dryer for 15 minutes. My hair is still softer and silker than ever. This is going to be my new deep conditioner.

I use this in my reggie as well. I wash with 1 lather of shampoo, then rinse. Apply a generous amount of PC and let it sit on my hair for about 5 mins or so, then rinse. Then I follow with my DC.

My results are always super smooth silky hair, also my ends dont get tangled as well during the week when I wear my hair straight. I felt like I was having that "velcro ends" thing going on a while back, now that has really been fixed. I read that a lot of that has to do with your hair's porosity levels to an extent. Additionally I use it after my relaxer, before neutralizing.

Same here!!!! It has totally changed my ends all the way around.

I just purchased some today. I'm going to use it on my daughter's hair after I relax it. I'm really hoping her hair turns out nice and silky and less tangles.

i really want to try this. i can't seem to find this product anywhere though. Where can I buy it? Are there any other porosity control products people recommend?

Is it a protein conditioner? I used a protein after rinsing my relaxer (per SistaSlick). Did you use this in additional to, or in place of a regular protein treatment during that step? Thanks!

I am a frequent henna head... and after using the Roux porosity control conditioner just ONCE I am noticing that my hair color is soooo deep and rich. It was not this deep looking before... I mean it was nice but not like this.

I purchased mine from Sally's along with the Shampoo, the Mendex and the Moisture/Balance Packet(all of which I haven't used yet).

However, I do use the Porosity Control Conditioner each week consistently after my DC with heat. It was explained on another thread, that if you use heat, the cuticle is lifted and you want it to lie flat. So, I always use it after I rinse out my DC. I apply the PC for about 1 minute and rinse out with cool water.

My regimen also on natural hair. I use hair coloring and will place on hair for five minutes, rinse, followed by hair dye. It makes my rinse last longer.

Instructions:

When:
1. If the hair overly dry and suffering from brittleness regardless of how much moisture is put into the hair.
2. Right before a chemical service so that the hair can readily and evenly accept the chemical service.

Why: Porosity Control Conditioner is great! Hair in its healthiest state is at a pH level of 4.5-5.5 which is acidic, therefore holding a positive charge. Damaged hair tends to be more alkaline (about 7 on the pH scale) as a result from coloring, perms, bleaches, relaxers, thermal tools, therefore holding a negative charge. Hair in this state tends to look more dull, dry, cuticles are raised, tangles occur, and the cortex is exposed causing more damage. The proper pH level can be obtained by using Porosity Control Conditioner to acidify the hair since its a low pH product. This acidic conditioner helps to compact the hair cuticles having them lay flat and constricted. When the cuticles are closed and laying flat, light is able to reflect off of your hair (giving it shine) rather than absorb it (dry/dull looking). The hair will then become positively charged allowing you to manage your hair better and have it feel & look healthier than before.

How:
1. Apply to the hair before a chemical service to prevent chemical shock to ensure predictable results. This also helps prevent overlapping of the relaxer.
2. Apply after a chemical service when additional conditioning is required. Leave on for 30 seconds, rinse out.
3. Apply to the hair in sections while detangling the hair with a wide tooth comb. This is great before shampooing. Let it sit for 5-10mins after the detangling process, then rinse out.
4. Apply after shampooing. Let it sit for 2-5mins. Rinse and follow up with a deep conditioner for better conditioning results (more moisture, shine and elasticity).
5. Put 2-3tsp of the conditioner in your deep conditioner for added slip, cortex protection, impart shine, and align the bonding of the cuticles.
6. Use as a final rinse for detangling, and smoothness, leave on for 2-5 mins, then rinse out.

Though I'm transitioning and 15 mo post, I think I will continue to use this or another porosity equalizer as part of my routine once I chop. I think porous hair is part of the reason why so many naturals experience extreme dryness, or hair that is crunchy, drawn up, or unmanageable once dry. Our hair lets everything in, and then it lets it right back out.

Has anyone applied this before a relaxer to prevent overlapping? Does it matter how soon before the relaxer it's applied?

I actually did this when I relaxed my hair going on a month ago. I applied the porosity control to my hair which made it damp and then preceded with SE Mild-lye relaxer. I must say I was AMAZED!!!!! since I was sixteen weeks post and my hair usually doesn't take relaxers well after that long period of time. My hair got bone-straight and I was pleased with the results.

thanks! good to know, I may just try this with my next relaxer.

I've never used this with heat since I use it as a final rinse (2-3 mns) on my big twists in the shower as I do other things....I'll try it with heat and for longer this time (more jumping in and out). Thanks!

I relaxed and then followed immediately with PC. Normally when I neutralize it takes forever to get white lather (as opposed to pink). This time I went to white lather during the second wash. Yay!

It Totally was the Missing Step in my Hair Care Regimen. I was DC'ing with Heat and had no knowledge that the cuticle was raised/lifted and needed to be closed/constricted.

So, If you think about it, I really wasn't accomplishing much and all my effort was basically in "Vain"

Until, I learned about Porosity and how to Control it. I knew My Hair was very damaged and porous.

And it wasn't until I was able to balance out the acidic level and to flatten and close those cuticles with adding this additional step, did my hair actually turn around and I started seeing the Positive Results of All my Deep Conditioning Treatments.

Last wash day, I used Nexxus Ensure that has a ph level of 3.0. I have used Ensure in the past for this purpose.

Roux Porosity Control (or a product like it) will always, always, always be part of my Regimen.:yep:
