I'm very happy with my OCT and my MT but I was reading Lucky magazine and there was a product touted called Tailrx. It was developed by a cosmetologist for horse breeders. Don't get funny because we all know that MT is for horses and MN is for the cooty cat and I've even read people putting urine on their face. :nono:

I looked at the site (http://www.tailrx.com/) and it seem to have the same theory behind it as all of the other growth aids out there. It works by clearing the scalp (horse's tail area) of dead skin and sebum, maximizing capillary action and other stuff. It does focus on a 3 step program though and it doesn't seem as if you can buy each step separately. This does seem to be the only growth aid commercial that actually explains how it works.

I don't know. I'm sticking with OCT. I can't afford to be a guinea pig this year. Shoot I just got my edges back. I'm just putting this out there.

Has anyone heard of it? I can't find any reviews online so it must be a new product.

Saw it in the May issue of Lucky magazine and came to the board to search. It is available as s 3 piece set only for $80

1. TailRx Cleanser
This revitalizing treatment works to exfoliate dead, dry skin from the tailbone. Fortified with fruit-based sugars (the same alpha hydroxy acids found in fine skincare products), and botanical enzymes, it goes deep into the follicle, ridding it of clogged skin cells and sebum.

2. TailRx Snap Proof Strengthener
A combination conditioner/strengthener, this gentle detangler contains silicones for shine and dirt repellency, as well as amino acids to increase elasticity and tensile strength (the degree to which a hair can be stretched before snapping.) As the life span of every hair is 4-7 years, it is vitally important to treat existing hair while promoting healthy hair growth. Snap Proof Strengthener is also formulated with a UV filter to help prevent color fade and block the internal damage of free radicals.

3. TailRx Leave-In Treatment
Formulated with a unique botanical extract blend, this essential third step helps to increase microcirculation and facilitate the flow of nutrients to the dermal papilla and bulb, giving cells what they need to form Keratin.

I purchased it and today will be my 4th time using it. You're supposed to use it:

3x - the first week
2x - the second week
1x - the third week (and thereafter)

I used it 3 times for the first week and today I'm starting my second week - I'll only use it a total of two times this week and then I'll start using it only one time a week. I've noticed in the short time that I've used it that my hair feels "super" strong and I see much less hairs in the shower after using it. I can also feel my scalp tingle a little afterwards. One thing - my scalp is sorer than it ever has been. I think this is because it's working overtime (or at least I hope so). My scalp is also starting to itch more than usual. ..... No, I'm not allergic to the products. My scalp usually gets sore and my scalp itches more when my hair is growing. In just a short time of using TailRX I've notice just a teeny bit of growth. Not bad since I've only used it 3 times so far. Can't wait until my 3 month trial period is up (I'm giving it 3 months to prove itself). Just thought I would share.

It's been nearly one month and I've gained 3/4" since I started using Tailrx. When I see some real growth, I'll post some pics. Yeah I know 3/4" is supposed to be above the norm, but I've set some real challenges for myself. Also, I've started drinking protein shakes: home made fruit juice, flaxseed powder and whey protein mixed together. I make it the night before, place in the refrigerator and then have it the next day. I just sip it throughout the day instead of all at once. The only problem is that I have to keep adding ice to it in order to keep it cold, but it tastes great although a little thick due to the flaxseed and whey protein - uuuuummmmm!

Thanks for keeping us posted on this. It's interesting how you have to reverse steps 2 & 3 for human usage.

Yeah I can't understand why. But since my hair is getting really tangled after I wash with Step #1, I do the following:

1) Finger part my hair and apply the Step #3 directly to my scalp & lightly massage.
2) Immediately apply Step #2 to my hair only & then comb out from the ends to avoid tangling.

It's been helping a lot.

3) Air dry.
4) Style.

I'm also starting to get a sore scalp and I'm not using too much of the products. This usually happens when my hair is growing. I'm trying to wait patiently, but it's not easy:wallbash:

More info about each of the Steps:

#1 (Shampoo) exfoliates the scalp, loosens up all the dirt and buildup on the scalp, supplies oxygen to the scalp so it can breathe and accept nutrients better.

#2 (Scalp liquid) feeds & stimulates the scalp and produces more keratin for your scalp.

#3 (Strengthener) strengthens the hair and gives it shine without being greasy.

None of the products are greasy or heavy. My hair feels very clean after shampooing and my scalp feels very cool after applying the scalp liquid. The strengthener gives my hair a tiny bit of bounce and shine without any buildup.
