How many of beautiful LHCF women said the hell with transition and bc'd down to a fade? Just curious. BTW I think it takes a beauiful and extra confindent woman to make that decision. If you did kudos to you. If you didn't your still bold and beautiful . You can post comments if you would like. Thank you

When I first went natural, I BCD's after a "transition" of 28 days. Since then, I've been down to a TWA, a fade, and bald and everything in between.

I was just thinking about this last night. I saw a youtube video where someone cut all their hair very low. I was thinking when I do it, I'll definetly be very dramatic, I'm going to go from mid-back or waist length relaxed to a dark caesar. I'm cutting it all off. I think it'll be fun to watch it grow in again.

I was too chicken to cut my hair off plus my head is too big to be bald:lachen: ... .I transitioned for about 18 months before cutting my relaxer off. I agree ladies look wonderful with the short cuts but I couldn't and didn't do it.

I've been seriously considering it. The thought hurts because I'm about a half-inch from waist length (stretched) at the moment...but I'm tired of/frustrated with my hair as it is. I'm twenty weeks into my transition, but if I decide to BC I'm just going to shave it all off, new growth and all.
I'll see how it goes. I don't have the face for short hair so it probably won't happen, but I'm trying to keep myself away from scissors just in case.

I have been stretching my relaxed hair since Sep of 08'. Don't get me wrong the stretch was fine but my hair had all ready lost the battle. It was thin, split and my fine hair relaxed bone straight with all that damage was'nt a good look...I was wearing Micros a month ago and took about 2 of them down, my new growth was awesome!!! Just to see I cut the relaxed parts off and fell in love with my curls! I did not get a fade but it was a pretty dramatic change on 04/10/09. I love my TWA and am not ashamed to go out and rock it. :)

Oh Spinspinshuga. I see that you don't have any pictures so I assume you a private person but I'm sure I can speak for others that we would love to see pics of your hair now and before your bc since it would be such a dramatic transition. None the less your decision is bold as hell I love it you go girl!

Ooh so you transitioned for 5months to a Teenie Weenie huh? You too have no pics . Congratulations on your new journey to natural.

I didn't transition at all. I had about 1/4 inch of hair when I bc'd in November because I didn't want to shave my head. I ended up having to cut that 1/4 off because it was texlaxed or scab hair, I couldn't tell but it looked different from my new growth. Anyway 5 months later my hair is 4 inches long.

I will say that there is an initial shock. Your face will not 'change' but it will seem 'different.' I liked my hair when I first cut it. It was smooth and laid really nice and then around month 4 I didn't like it for a minute (just being honest) I wore a wig during month 4 and got my hair re-shaped at the end of March. Now at month 5, I'm back to wearing my hair out with pride.

You will gain confidence as you get used to seeing yourself. It helps to have supportive friends/family. Once you take the plunge it's not like you can go back to long hair immediately (without a wig) so you work with what you got. :yep:

Thank you so much---Im still trying to get the hang of posting pics on the site. Ahhhh! its frustrating :(
but I will post as soon as I can work it. :)

I couldn't do it. I think I would have loved to see myself with a low cut, but I don't have the face for it.

Once I got used to it and start owning my new look.

I did. My last relaxer before my BC was July 27, 2007 I bc'd on Sep. 3, 2007. (I'm relaxed again now) My hair is longer and healthier now than it was before I cut it.

I have pics in my fotki.

I wish I had. I took my locs out, and had about earlength hair. I wish (at this point) I would have cut it all off then, as I don't plan on cutting my hair ever again, and I would have liked to have experienced uber short hair.

Now that my hair is finally starting to resemble a TWA, I miss my low cut. It was so easy. Gel or pomade of my choice + scarf and I'm out the door.

I am too shallow to cut off ALL my hair. My poor feelings would not have been able to withstand the comments and looks from fam and friends (my people are BRUTAL!!! West indians don't know what tact is....:look:)

After transitioning for 7 months I said forget it and cut it all off into a fade. Pics are in my fotki. Im thinking of going back to the same fade for the summer.

I did and I loved it.:yep:

My first BC I chopped down to 3 inches but I had no clue how to handle it so I cut it ALL off for a few months.

I'm thinking about doing it again. It was so easy to take care of and very cute.

You grew 4" of hair in 5 months??? Yo, what is your regimen?

I don't think it has much to do with my regimen. I think I just have an accelerated growth rate for whatever reason. The sides are 3 inches but that's because my hair cut is tapered on the sides to make it more stylish.

But:

Most days I rinse it in the shower and finger comb to style. I use glycerin and water to moisturize. I do not seal my hair. My hair hates oil so I leave that step out. I use Giovanni Leave In if I'm going to comb my hair out into a fro type deal.

I cowash on Wednesdays only now. As I'm not using gels or anything like that there's no need for extra cowashes.

I wash with Paul Mitchel Tea Tree shampoo once a week and DC once a week with whatever I have.

I try to only comb (Denman) on wash day.

If I'm wearing my wig, I have the same routine except I comb coil my hair and use a wig cap.

Nope. I took the long route. I had a tapered cut the year before I decided to transition so I was not interested in having short hair again. I waited 15 months before chopping. :yep:

I've done three transitions. The first I transitioned with wigs/braids. The second I just basically shaved my head where I had a fade. The third I transitioned with braids. Getting the fade wasn't as tramautic as I thought it would be. However, it made me uncomfortable because (I want to be PC) I looked mannish without makeup on and its the only time in my life where I had people ask me if I was a lesbian.

What is your fotki address. I for one am nosey and would like to see.

I was so tired of the broken off perm that I asked my sister to cut all the perm out. But I wore half wigs until I found this site and deceided to texlax my hair. That was the best decision I ever made concerning my hair.

I did, over three years ago. I was done with the whole relaxer thing and just buzzed away. I've had one set back since then (too much protein) but am still MBL and I think it was worth it for me to just go all the way natural.
