I've noticed that I get 'the itch' to relax this time of the year...what is wrong wit me? I straighten my hair and it looks relaxer straight, yet...Spring comes and I want a relaxer...ughhh!

Who else feels like this?

Ok....I feel better now talking about it, cause when I tell dh how I feel, he says..."go ahead baby, do what you want.":wallbash:...he is no help at all:lachen:

Your hair is lovely. I have nothing constructive to add.:lachen:

According to what I see in your avatar, your hair is nice the way it is... Keep up the good work :)

Thank you, mamato. It's when I have it curly is when I feel this way...ugghhhh. I love my curls, I really do...but, sometimes I feel limited, well...this time of the year I do. When the weather gets warmer, there goes the straight look.:nono:

I feel like screaming...just a little:lachen:

As my mama would say, "leave well enough alone". If it's beautiful the way it is, leave it alone. You may not like what you get if you relax. Then what would you do?

your hair is beatiful!! Just get it straightened sometimes to cure that urge..no need reaching for the chemicals:lol:
once summer comes its going to be all hot and humid anyway.

Thanks, ladies. This is what I need..somebody to encourage me NOT to do it. I appreciate the compliments, just know that its not easy being a natural...no matter who you are and whatever your hair type is, so I'm just venting. I don't think I will do it...but, the urge is very strong. The same thing happened to me last year as well...crazy:ohwell:

Thanks again.

Investigating and investing some great accessories that really set off curly hair may help.

I loved replicating styles that require hair folding or twisting with curly hair, without the hair being straightened first. The texture gives it a new look. :yep:

Would that help? I don't know what else to say other than don't ruin such a lovely mane. :nono: If it ain't broke...baa, baa, baa!

I'm in the middle of my own hair epiphany about the chemical state of my hair. That must be why I'm so useless to you about now. :look:

Awww...thanks for the tips. I do appreciate it so much. I'm just venting.

I was up late last night twisting my hair, only for it to look stoopid this morning:lachen:. I only wear it in buns or pony puffs and it looks nice, I think I'm just bored. When I wear it straight...I have more options with styles and that's what I like. I think I'm getting to old for this stuff...I dunno. I'm ready for simple, simple, simple:yep:...curly ain't simple:look: I'm on the Ayurveda challenge with no straightening, so that's making it worse:wallbash:

I didn't know you were too going through it....well, at least we have each other to encourage NOT to do it. I'm getting ready to go on vacation for 2 weeks in Miami, so I'll probably feel better cause I won't have any other choice then:yep:

Thanks again, ladies...for your encouragement. Its nice to know that you have people to talk to when you are going through hair issues:yep:

I'm finding hair is less of a satisfying hobby my desire to write, for art and for martial arts/dance has come back with a vengeance. I want to focus less on "me"....Maybe it's not as entertaining or satisfying to fuss over as it was before?

I WILL find a way to make curly simple one day! But...uhm...don't quote me on that.

I'm relaxed bone straight and trying to tell myself to stay that way. :lachen:I'm conflicted because I know choosing to go natural again will hurt my family.

So true! I think I'm going to need it badly two .5 months from now. :look:

(
Because, when I inevitably I chop off my hair -in the middle of the night:lachen:- AGAIN and have 3" of hair AGAIN...and the family finds out...I'm gonna' need some friends....:nono:)

On a more serious note though maybe this desire for change could be about something besides hair? "We often take life out on our hair...." someone here said that and it stuck with me. This is true in the positive and negative sense. Sometimes when I just HAVE TO DO SOMETHING to my hair, I find I'm really concerned about something else pressing in my subconscious, in my spirit, that I'm ignoring or just being deaf to. Just my experience with my little golden self. I can be a silly lamb though.

Actually, I love talking about hair. Most people don't know this, but I went to school for hair for 4 years. Learned alot and now realize the wrong teachings in these schools have caused many stylists to make huge mistakes with their clients.:yep:

I don't know why I thought you were relaxed...but, we can still encourage each other anyway:grin:...if you decided to do the bc, let me know!

No, I'm not concerned about anything, thank the Lord but, I am so in need of vacation and so I can't wait to go.:yep:

Thanks for your encouragement....I do appreciate it very, very much!

I think that itch is contagious because I have been feeling that way this week too. I decided to just commit to being a heat stretched natural instead and just build a healthy regimen around that. I think its the thought of mixing straight hair with heat and humidity that does it - in the winter time - being straight is easy - it gets more challenging in the summer. Just focus on your favorite natural styles and rock those when its super humid.

Well being natural is easy for me, but that's neither here nor there.

Didn't you post a thread a while back (maybe it was summer or early fall) about finding a shop where you got an amazing rollerset. I remember the pictures I think. Why don't you try that to relieve the itch? That way, you can have someone else do your hair for you. I know sometimes it's annoying to do all the work (which is why I end up in a shrunken fro everyday) yourself.

Thank you so much for the encouragement. I will be natural 3 years in August and its been good overall...I can't say its been a bad thing, its just easy being straight.:yep:

Thanks for the encouragement. Yes, I did post the pics in the fall and they do a wonderful job. I do mine at home and don't have a problem with doing it at all...it comes out so nice. But, you may be right...maybe get her to do it every once in a while will probably help with my 'issues'....:yep: Thank you!

yes, do what you want and don't relax!
Straight and to the point.....I love it!

Thanks girl....

I've been transitioning for almost 75 weeks now. I'm so glad I have not had 'the itch' to relax. A flat iron gets my hair relaxer straight.

DH is like my family I get the urge to relax when I lose hair from knots, which I did this past week! But I said at the end of 2009 I will relax, now I'm saying for my wedding I will relax!!!! Although I must point out that I have no boyfriend lol, so marriage is far far away!!!! I think if I can't get the knots under control I will RELAX!!!

why would you want to do that to your pretty head of hair?
In the summer when its hot and you start sweating ,you have to worry about your NG reverting.
now we dont want that, do we?

i think that's a faux-itch!

girl, you bet'NOT relax!

what would be the point?

just go ahead and and iron it out to help curb that urge to relax.

i ask again...

what would be the point?

i mean think about no more wash n gos...no more beautiful curls...no more puffs...

yeah. just iron it out and swang it for a week or two. :yep:

Hang in there girl. (As I play with my NG Fighting the same urge)
:lachen:....awww, thanks!

I have it and I must use it wrong every time cause my hair is flat with no body after I use it:wallbash:

Love it...."faux-itch"...:lachen:

Thank you so much ladies....I can always depend on my LHCF cousins to help me in my time of need.

Luv you all!

Twin, I'm not going to be any help...I went ahead and texlaxed and my hair is still spiral curly when wet...and so easy to detangle! I can't wait to wear it curly this summer. I love it.

You know I support whatever you decide!

If you can get your hair relaxer strait with a flat iron, why would you need to relax?:nono: Your hair is so gorgeous, N&W. What if you don't like your relaxer? Then you'd have to start all over again. Please, don't do it!

Look at what you went and did......now I'm back to square one:lachen:
