I'm transitioning and as my time draws near to remove my sew-in :nono: I'm dreading having to detangle for hours with my new growth. Problem is, my hair has been dry since last year.

It seems like my new growth has strength of it's own:lachen:and fights my combs. Anywhoo, I want to be prepared when I do this next month and I'm trying to figure out what I can do to cut back on the nappiness at the roots. The only time it's manageable is when I blowdry and I was attempting to avoid heat during my transition...although I only flat iron the pieces that are out of my sew-in.

What cuts out the knots and dryness?? I've tried co-washing, oils, you name it I've tried it. Please lend your help!

I use to have the same problem. When I started baggying my entire head at night, it solved my problem. Have you tried that yet?

Maybe you could try deep conditioning on a consistent basis (i.e., once a week) and see how your hair responds to it.

During the time that you have the wweave in, what do you use? I wouldn't suggest using an oil unless it comes in a spray bottle and you do it about once a week.

I would tell you to do a cowash and spray infusium mixed with s curl or stay sof fro while the hair is still a little damp.

The same thing was happening to me when I was in a weave but I also had to take it out and do a protein treatment. My hair wasn't holding any moisture because it had no protein. After I took out the weave, I used some DuoTex and it felt better.

You also have to give it time.

I'm using a leave in condish reccommended by my stylist. It's doing okay right now (I think) but I know I will definitely need some protein once this weave is out. Where can I find Stay Sof Fro?
