Okay girls, I've done it again... Yet another hair disaster. I was so embarrased when I had to go out today, because I couldn't make it look good by pulling it to the back. I DC'd my hair last night and twisted it up in about 10 2 strand twists and this is my result. I HATE that it looks all stringy at the ends... I couldn't make it look right.:nono: What'd I do wrong...?

What you can do to have a more even look is set your ends on rollers. Keep in mindthe smaller the rollers the curlier. It should do the trick and make sure your not using a product that weighs down your hair too much so a water based product is always good.

I used ORS Olive Oil and I put some NTM Silk Touch in... then I twisted it, and misted it with water and slept on it. I didnt put any rollers on the ends. Do you roll them all the way up or just the one time?

yup. try it with rollers or flexirods on the ends. Also, when doing two strand twists be sure that you do not cheat any hair from one strand to the other. and try to twirl the hair as you twist it. watch my video. (ignore that I'm using extension hair and just focus on the technique as I twist the length.

Also check this out to see how I set my ends.

Don't fret though, it just takes some time to get a really good/consistent result. Don't give up.

When I do a twist out I usually do flat twists...for some reason it comes out much better. Otherwise, if I do two strand twists I bantu knot them and then I get a curly fro.

I did a two strand twist, but I did them flat against my scalp, if that makes any sense... like cornrows, but twists instead...

ALSO: When I want to wash this out, do I comb thru it FIRST and THEN wash? Or should I just wet my hair without combing? Maybe I should brush w/the Denman? I always have a hard time getting my hair out of this style... Any suggestions?

So you did do flat twists then. In that case, maybe you should try regular twists and then bantu knot them. That is if you want it to be curly.

Hmm, when I come out of a twist out I just wet it in the shower and finger detangle. But that may tangle you up. You should try finger detangling first, then doing some large braids to wash in. Doing it by sections makes it less likely that you'll have huge tangles.

I would say try with fewer twists (like 5 or 6) that way the way pattern is more even; once is dry you can finger comb to separate it as you please. This not only will give you a fuller set, but also the parts will be less noticeable. I do my flat braidouts/flat twistouts on 70% dried hair not soaked cause I have more control over it, I only use leave-in and serum and like the other ladies suggested I use perm rods on my ends. It always works like a champ…;)

Oh! And I never comb a braidout; I do my regular wash routine and worry about detangling afterwards.

It's not too bad. Whenever mine come out like that I always pull it up or back into a loose ponytail to make a messy bun. Makes it look like you did it on purpose and its cute. Give it a try. Or pull your hair back and pin it under. That always looks good with twist-outs.

I noticed that when mine started looking thin at the ends I need to trim them to make them even. But be careful b/c with a blunt cut it's hard to keep twists from unraveling.

When I want my braid-outs to look nice and hold their curl I usually use a little bit of shea butter on slightly dampened hair that already has leave-in conditioner in it, especially on my ends because that part doesn't like to hold a curl that much.

P.S. I agree with hairdrama:{...never comb out a braid-out or twist out or even touch it much for that matter. You can finger separate the twists and blend your hair together with your hands, and once you have it the way you like it try not to pull on it or groom it too much. That's a definite way to have frizzy or flat curls.
