What is the benefit of the acv rinse?

I think that a lot of people use it to clarify. Some people use it after relaxing too!

This may be a dumb question but I have to ask... Is an acv rinse the final thing or do you run water over your hair after? I assume your hair might smell like vinegar.

I do my acv rinse after I shampoo. Then I condition. Therefore, my hair never smells like acv.

Please note that acv rinses close the cuticle of the hair...If you need to get the conditioner into the cuticle (shaft) you will need some form of heat to open it back up.

ACV rinses impart shine and elasticity for the hair... They also help your color and seal the cuticle.... I love using it before my conditioner so i won't have that vinegar smell..... but if you prefer putting it on after a conditioner you can always get the acidifying conditioners from the store. Nexus makes a good one...

I do my final rinse with ACV. It has a light smell of ACV depending on how much you add to your mixture but once your hair is dry the smell is gone (unless you add to much vingear).
I use it after deep conditioning to get my hair back to the correct pH and to soften my hair ever more

(newbie here)

After absorbing the great advice on this board for a few weeks I decided to try ACV rinses. I decided to do the rinse after my conditioner....and all I can say is WOW!! My hair is tangle free and super shiny. Also, my hair does not smell like vinegar. I use three tablespoons of vinegar to about 32onces of distilled water. I then use magnetic rollers to wet set my hair with a little leave-in conditioner on my ends.

I did an ACV rinse last night after conditioning and washing my hair and I have been getting compliments all day

Last week a friend of mine who has not seen me for 6 months was amazed at how healthy my hair looks. The last time she saw me my hair was shorter, uneven and dull-looking. I was recovering from a bad relaxer and dye job.

I luv ACV rinses. I do them after every wash. I can't live without it. I dilute it the same as Cameos.
Nexxus Ensure did nothing for my hair. I had better results with the ACV rinses and it's cheaper.

Doing an ACV rinse after my conditioner has not reversed the affects of my conditioner. My hair feels really soft and silky. From what I have read about ACV rinses on this board it seems that the rinse seals your hair cuticles, thereby sealing in moisture and the nutrients of your conditioner. That's why I decided to try the rinse after my conditioner. It has been working very well for me

I do not rinse out the ACV after I use it, and it is the last thing I do to my hair during a wash.

Robotxcore, there's no "verdict" on whether to ACV before or after conditioner. Different strokes for different folks. I have always ACV'd after conditioner, and I believe Allandra has always done it before. And you'll find lots of people doing either. Only you can be the judge of what works for you.

I ACV at the end because it makes sense to me to close my hair's cuticle and leave my hair in a pH that is more normal ie acidic. Closed cuticles mean less tangling, less likelihood of the cuticle to be torn off by friction between the strands, and it gives a better sheen to my hair than if the cuticle is left open.

Never had that effect on my hair. ACV has never been a "clarifying" product to me. I believe alkaline products do a better job of clarifying than acidic ones, but that's just me.

Conditioner makes my hair feel soft and moisturized. ACV adds a smoothness to the effect conditioner leaves in my hair. It doesn't rob it of the positive effect received from conditioning.

Better to err on the side of caution and dilute it more than you think you should. After all, you just need a little acidity to make a difference to the state of your cuticle. I use about a 1/4 cup in 2 gallons of water. I also add essential oils of lavender and rosemary (about 20 drops each). I ACV at the end of every wash, and I wash my hair at least twice a week. Some days I'll just CW and then ACV rinse. Wait, I don't use CON (Creme of Nature?), or maybe I understood you correctly the first time and you meant CO Washes or CWs = condition washes.
