i gotta question and figured it might help everyone if i call you out instead of pm you. so we all know you are like the pj goddess right lol and you have this long beautiful and thick hair.
so i want to know do you think using all those many different products helped you grow your hair and keep it healthy or do you think its more of what you do to your hair?

i use many different products and im tired of people telling me my hair will fall out. i dont believe it but sometimes it does make me think.

so whats your secret? is it what you use or what you do?

Oh yes, her hair is beautiful, I love the color also. There's this myth that PJ's usually have the shortest hair...I've read it here on LHCF too:rolleyes: so I hope she and Empressri can debunk it. PJ's United:woot:

 I didn't know what I was clicking in to...I had the face of the baby in Nice&Wavy's siggy :lachen:

I think I'm proof positive that it's more about technique and having a regimen that works for you and sticking to it!!! While I change hair products about as often as I change my drawls (:look: FREQUENTLY, thanks), WHAT I do doesn't change and that's frequent cowashes, prepoos, poo w/sls free poos or bars as needed, chelate (my only sls exception) as needed, DC with moisture/protein as needed, and protective style. I pay close attention now to ingredients and I know what "we" like. There is no such thing as a miracle product. You could have the best thing ever created on your shower ledge but if you dont have healthy, consistent hair practices, the product isn't going to work. I will be a product jun-k-y til the day I die, but I also plan to keep my routine together!

HTH!!

Don't let folks make u feel bad about using a bunch of different stuff. Even after finding staples, I like trying new things. It's in our nature!

thanx eisani.

yep, i buy products just because i can not because i need it. my hair is growing nicely and i love my hair but like i said sometimes people say things that makes me think you know?

but thanx for the go ahead. now i can blame your pretty head of hair for my empty pockets lmao.

Eisani has beautiful hair. I was just wondering, today as a matter-of-fact, what she uses to get her hair that beautiful. I would love a thread where she would give us pointers like Flowerhair and Supergirl did.

Her hair is gorgeous. Not to mention she is the queen of colorshowers (i learn from the best). I totally agree because i love trying new products, too. But as long as you stay consistent with your haircare methods, your hair will thank you.:yep:

yup yup, it's not all what you use, it's how you use it. imagine having a $250 face cream (like la mer, however much it costs) but not washing your face at night before putting it on, or using the really nice OPI nail hardener, but not using remover to take off that old layer of polish off. it defeats the purpose!

you can use more than one line, but you should have moisture and protein in a balance. and you have to know what your hair needs when it needs it. i know i need protein after awhile of straight moisturizing deep treatments, so i do it. hair feeling dry? up those moisturizers! ends getting split and frayed? clip'em off!

thanx eisani.

Oh lawd, I see the PJ Society is going to have to come up with some type of disclaimer

On the real, if you're happy with your hair right now and it's growing, keep doing what you're doing and ignore the rest. What works for one does not work for all...

^^ **Hint Hint**

^^^Exactly! ;-)

:yep::yep::yep:yea exactly.

Thank you! Now I have to go look and see what pointers Supergirl and Flowerhair gave (love both of these heads, great inspiration when I first started). I have a touch of A.D.D., so if I decide to do it I'll let you all know . I had big lofty goals for my Fotki (hence the shutting down), including updating my journals and doing tutorials but haven't done a darn thing. I don't even think I've taken pictures since December :look:.

Thanks Wheezy :) I love watching your and NeeNee280 for Colorshowers updates. While I'm on a henna kick now, I have stockpiled (yea, I'm openly admitting it *Fab*!) Colorshowers and plan on going back one day.

Consistency in method is definitely key, not brand/product loyalty .

RiRi, you know I luh u :hug2:!!!

My hair idol :drunk::lick:!! Eisani, your hair is amazing so we always want to hear what you have to say. Thanks, bunches!!!

PS. Can you still buy color showers in the old formula? If so from where?

Thank you!

I haven't looked for CS in a while so I'm not sure if any place is still selling the old formula or not. From what I've seen and heard, only the Cobre and now the black seem to be different colors (weird how both now have that weird green base but that's a different thread). One of my girls sent me some from the east coast ( ;) ) and I managed to get some from RBH but I remember her saying she didn't have a lot left. I even found and bought some old Sebastian Colourshines-you know, just in case :look:.

Hmm I haven't noticed that. What I have noticed is that the women with longest hair usually have the fewest products and the simplest regimen.

I've also noticed that many of the pj's tend to have issues with breakage, protein overload, etc. based on the threads they make asking for help. I think that has to do with the fact that they don't know how to use the products that they buy. Or that they buy things regardless of whether it may work for their hair's characteristics, and instead buy it just because they can't resist.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, having a lot of products doesn't mean your regimen isn't simple. I guess I don't see the correlation. If I like to buy hair products, that's what I'm going to do but that doesn't mean I'm changing up my routine or adding an extra step or 3 to the process. I notice a lot of people in general having issues w/breakage, protein overload and the like. Being a PJ or a minimalist really has nothing to do with that. You can have 4 or 40 products and still suffer from those issues for any number or reasons. The only difference is the PJ probably already has something in the stash that'll remedy the problem . True enough, some just can't resist temptation, but there are others like myself (Tee and Ri come to mind) that just seriously enjoy buying stuff.

I totally agree with the bolded!!! I am going to be colorshowering on Saturday so we will see what happens!! Henna? I am scared. I probably need to ask you for tips when I get the nerve. :yep:

If you don't try stuff... how will you ever know what works and doesn't work? I think it comes down to reading the labels. I think everyone has a tendency to be a PJ at the beginning.. but our QUEEN PJ.. aforementioned here really on goes nuts on conditioners..lol! Which usually don't cause any of the stuff that you mentioned. I stay away from anything that sounds like a restructurizer... (othe than Aveda DR and Aphogee 2 min). But oils, cremes, butters, leave ins... not so much.

I think it just depends on the definition of simple. And I'm not saying being a pj automatically means the person's regimen isn't simple, that would be a generalization that couldn't possibly be true. According to my own definition, pjism doesn't really fit in with simplicity. But that's just me.

I agree, people in general have hair issues. I was just saying I noticed that a lot of those issues stem from using 50-11 products at one time or close together or not knowing which ones to use. I don't think it's automatically related to pj's, but it does seem like a lot of pj's have that issue, IMO.

I was just adding my opinion, that's all.

True, I'm addicted to conditioner-big time! Oh, oils and butters too. And raw ingredients :look:. I know what works and what I like to stay away from (I still won't mess with Aphogee). If you're going to be a junkie, be an informed junkie  I'm not going to waste my money on something I can look at the ingredients and tell won't agree with my hair, I'd rather re-up on an old faithful or keep reading until I find something that piques my interest. Before transitioning, I never had issues w/breakage, dryness, none of that but when I first started and had more natural hair to contend with, I hit a few snags but was able to quickly iron them out and alter my techniques as well as eliminate some products that no longer worked. It's all about listening to your hair y'all, it doesn't have to difficult at all!!

I hear you, and it just goes to show, simple is subjective :yep:. Same way I'm sure my deifinition of being a PJ is different from yours

I've seen the bolded before too...

yea i have i have a lot of products but 90% of them i love lol. its because i know that my products have to have a lot of oils and butters and natural ingre. to work for me. i always to the same routine every week but just with different products.
