Fill in the blank! :yep: What methods, products, techniques, etc. have really made stretching super easy for you? A sista needs some encouragement, going for 10+ weeks! Lol..I know that's nothing round here, but that's pretty long for me..Thanks :)

Wild Growth Oil and MT have made my new growth much more manageable. Also wearing full sew in weaves. It made it possible for me to do my longest stretch of like 20 weeks I believe.

After I am about 8 weeks post I start doing the following:

Preepoo & Cleansing
applying DC like a relaxer on dry or wet hair (HairVeda SitriNillah Deep Conditioning Masque, AO Honey Suckle Rose or a Caramel treatment). This makes detangling so easy and my NG is hydrated.

After about 8 weeks I try not to use sulfate poos because they are drying to my new growth. I love Lanza Healing moisture and Eulence. Or WEN for a cowash.

Steam treatments - SamanthaJones method or with my heat cap.

Styling
I usually airdry in braids and will wear a braid out or braid out up do (bun, pony, some kind of creation)

If I rollerset then I flat iron only my roots

I try to keep the manipulation to a minimum so I only wash once a week.

I have been transitioning 8wks so far, and going to the salon every 2 weeks has me not even noticing that I am stretching. People always think I got a fresh relaxer.

I am 22 weeks post relaxer.
Weekly wash and DC
scalp massages with hair oil and just do not bother my new growth. Plus I have not applied any heat in almost 22 weeks. Expect for 1-13-09.

half wiggin. i braid my hair underneath and cop a curly puffy half wig and call it a day. Well i've been calling it 5 months
i also apply my dc like a relaxer thanks to harlicious and when dry i apply elasta qp glaze directly to the ng and scalp to smooth down the ng so my braids are tight.
its moisturizes soo well.

as for what i do to the front of my hair for the half wig...
ladies dont kill me for this
but i wet the front and apply small globs of castor oil ( the grease form) to the edges. then brush it all in to the length of my hair (with the half wig on)

then tie a scarf over it immediately to lay down the ng, in about 1/2 hour it dries and it works

The "magic" spritz: aloe vera gel/juice(I don't care which one), glycerin, water. I have amped mine up with a little coconut oil, vitamin E and NTM Silk Touch. I spritz my new growth and length at night, seal with either coconut oil or castor oil and tie down the scarf over my bun. I use the spritz morning and night on my ends and just re-bun.

Low manip. styles! (curly rollersets, buns, sewins)
CW
DC frequently
Keep protein going (at least for my hair)
Moisture! (spritz (aloe vera juice, water & glycerin----conditioner)

Ponytail Rollersets (Love Em)
and don't laugh when I say Sta So Fro baby!!! Makes NG Soft
Oil Rinsing or Hot oil treatments are essential for me to detangle gently (Coconut and other oils work fine too)
NTM Leave In with NTM Serum (on dry hair nightly before I scarf)

I really dont change my regimen for stretching until I reach week 12. Once I reach around week 12 I flat iron roots only after every wash, dc & rollerset.

I cowash 2-3x a week, DC 1 or 2x a week. only comb and detangle once a week. Try to wet the hair everyday with a spray bottle.

Oh and cowboy magic detangler really helps

I discovered cowashing, the scarf method and low manipulation. Now it's a breeze. I'm 14 weeks and 2 days, at least 4 more weeks to go before touch up.

Rollersetting is what help me stretch. After trying Ayurvedic yesterday, I believe I can stretch longer than my normal 14wk.

Co washing, Regular DC, bunning, HE LTR and Kinky twists. My siggy tells you how far into my stretch I'm.

I'm stretching for 14 weeks. I've never stretched thi long so this of course is a challenege for me.
December - I sported curly half wigs
January - a weave (relaxed straight from Lugo's)
Feb - I took my weave out this past friday and box braid my hair (it took 8hrs for me to complete) until my next touch up (March 14th)
I think putting box braids during my last few weeks will help with the brillo I call NG

Moisturizing like a Mad Woman with my beloved Organics Olive Oil and pre-pooing with Pure Olive Oil(makes my wash day a breeze)

Before lhcf, I'd never even heard of stretching and touched up every five weeks no matter what. Now, I just do it. 10 weeks is actually easy. 14 weeks was hard until samanthajones steam treatment - now I think I can go a little longer.

Ladies 14 weeks plus who co-wash, what do you do with your hair immediately after the shower? What do you use to detangle? I'm still struggling trying to find a good detangler and to stop the matting.

I apply the conditioner and sometimes conditioner and oil, and when the water is running through my hair, I use a wide tooth comb and then my denman to detangle. After cowashing, I apply phyto7 which is my leave in and is also an excellent detangler. After the phyto7, i seal with camellia oil, use the denman again, and it's bun city.
