.....not about grease, but DC. I noticed she leaves her DC in. This probably helps her hair from drying out with all that heat.

Anyone use a DC as a leave in as well? What are your thoughts on this?

I don't know which girl you are referring to, but I've been known to leave in a little silicon mix or redken butter treat.

I don't see why not it is a conditioner right? I don't do it and I don't really know anything about it so don't listen to me.lol

Only if it gives you the option,IMO...I just found my beloved Alter ego Energizing Cream which is an extremely moisturizing deep conditioner, but it gives the option in the directions of leaving it in...So I have been using it as my dc and leave-in for my last couple of rollersets and my hair has been so moisturized and strong...i must add that i also use a spray in protein treatment first and then apply the leave-in so my hair isn't overly moisturized...

I believe Lauren450 aka SouthernBella leaves condish in her natural hair b/f she flat irons...so the girl could be on to something.

Thanks ladies! I use apoghee 2 min every wash so I will give this a try next wash and report back!

I did this natural, relaxed and texlaxed.

It worked best natural and texlaxed. When I flat-ironed, it worked well (I was relaxed). I don't flat iron any more so I don't leave my DC in, but I left in regular "rinse out" conditioners for years with great results.

^ What she said...

I haven't been doing this for years yet, but I did choose to not completely rinse out my conditioner after a strong protein treatment and regular conditioner...

...and my hair was nice and strong. The added benefit was that I was noticing a tiny amt of breakage after having been in twists for a while. The breakage stopped with this treatment. I guess I needed more moisture.

...not sure if this is a one-size-fits-all measure, but it has worked well for my hair.

HHG to everyone!!!

Blessings,
cj

I leave some DC in my hair if I'm tying my hair back but not when I'm wearing it down as it makes my hair go a bit hard in some places when it dries in

I do. It does help a lot. I guess it acts as a type of heat protectant. For me, the more product on my hair, the better, because whenever I do my hair at home, if I put next to nothing on my hair, it will fry, and it will NOT look good. My stylist knows how to do it so that she doesn't have to put much in my hair, but she's a professional.

I do. It leaves good results.

back when i was rollersetting i left redken smooth down butter treat in my hair all the time.
this weekend i will leave just a bit of humectress in my hair to see what that does.

Humectress is a deep conditioner and a leave-in, so I'm sure that will be okay. That regular deep conditioners I wouldn't leave in because you can over condition your hair. It will get dry and start breaking. My sister-in-law's hair came out in "brush fulls" when she tried doing this. She said it was working good for a while then it started getting dry, days after that, she started getting more and more hair in her brush. When she realized it was the conditioner, her hair was already damaged. Be careful with doing this.

I don't think I would (intentionally) do this with a protein DC, but I would with a moisterizing DC. I have recently started doing just this with Aussie Moist Deeeeeeeeep Conditioner. I noticed it made my ends feel wonderful when I did it, so I started trying it with the rest of my hair. I'm a 4b natural so that may have something to do with it also. Plus, it is "winter" time here in FL.

(I hear y'all New Englanders cussin') LOL!

I'm not to sure on the grease thing. If you look at her cha cha vid she posted in 06 her hair is the same length.

I have to tell my mama all the time when she complain about the weather in FL- I have no sympathy for your 50 degree weather while i'm stuck up in AK where it's below 0 degrees....lol! We pull out shorts and tank tops when it's 20 degrees...lol!

Anyhoo....back on topic. I think I will need to try that Aussie Deeeeep Condish cause i've heard good things and it keeps staring at me in the BX.
