Right Now im about 19 weeks post!!!!!

After wearing my hair straight for about a week and half i decided to wash my hair today...and it was a tangled mess...i experienced breakage not too much but enough for me to be like eeeekkkkk!!!!!!!

What i did was shampoo with Kenra put GVP Joico on for 5 mins rinsed out then deep conditioned with Joico Moisture Recover Conditioner!!!!!

My question is what has or is currently helping you with ur transition??

What are your staple products or tools that are keeping you or has kept you in the game???

I dont want to give in to the creamy crack put if this continues :ohwell:

Thanks Ladies!!

Frequent washing.
Braidouts.
Coconut oil.
Deep Conditioners.
Patience.
Being Gentle.
MAXIGLIDE.

I transitioned for 11 months. When it started getting really bad, it would take me hours to get my hair together.

What helped the most was getting a squirt bottle and mixing an Aussie detangler with some warm water and using that after sectioning my hair into about 6 different parts. Kids organic shea butter detangling lotion really helped as well.
If I had to do it all over again I would start by washing my hair in sections and go piece by piece. Never all at once. It caused breakage, major frustration, and tears. :look:

Also at about the six month mark I braided my hair up for three months. It was a pivotal point for me and I just could not take it.

I transitioned for almost 8 months before I big chopped but I also got a lot of trims in between to avoid to much knots and tangling

It really helps to see women with the natural hair you want...
that's what made me stick to wanting to go natural.

Co-washing and wet bunning everyday and flexi rods sets helped me transition for well over a year.

It really helped me to stay in braids that way I would stay out of my hair and didn't have to deal with it...

I agree with Danigurl, Braids, cornrows, twist or braid outs. Anything to keep me out of my hair.
I have been transitioning for almost a year now, on my way to natural.

I remember i rocked this style to work on day and my boss was like WTF. After I answered that it was all my hair and I loved itm he quickly told me how beautiful it looked. I laughed cos he is so sweet and accepting.

So i say the less manipulation the better.

roller sets and rod sets were my faves. when things got too thick, I tried sew-in weave (didn't like) and then rope twists. ponytails never worked for me. ditto pp about washing in sections. i didn't learn about this until later in my transition when I just wore the twists.

I didn't do anything to my hair, just co-washed daily, bunned and kept it moisturized.
The more I tried to "do" my hair the more I got frustrated.
My tip is to find a staple hairstyle and roll with it.

The hair in my siggy was my style for the full year I transitioned, and still is after BC.
