About 8 months for me. I couldn't deal with 2 textures. I'm impatient and I was ready for change. When the time comes, you'll know.

Same here. I waited about 8.5 months. There are pros and cons when it comes to doing a BC. Consider how much relaxed hair you will be cutting off. I miss my length but no way do I miss the relaxed hair. But I can say the natural hair is growing very fast and I get to see what works for my hair and what does not.

Ha! Ive been transitioning for 31 months! I never could work up the courage to do a big chop jus several mini chops. I'm a half inch away from BSL and still have a half inch of relaxed hair.

I barely made it 6 months, and 3 of those months I was "unintentionally" transitioning because I didn't decide I was going to go natural until around March or so. Before that, I just couldn't be bothered to relax. Then, the two textures started getting on my nerves, and I just cut it all off. Don't know why I thought I would transition. It has never bothered me to have short hair. I've cut it all off a million times before.

I chopped after 7 months. I planned to transition for 12-18 months but I couldn't take it anymore. I am SOOOO glad I BC'd when I did because my TWA rocked!

Lol i planned on transitioning for 1 year.... Well that didn't happen. I B/C'd after 4months . But then i cut it down to about the length of 1 month "transition"

Im still transitioning - its been 26 months. I cant part with the length but in truth i HATE my relaxed ends b/c they are so weak. i dont think they will 'ruin' my new natural hair as some pple believe, so i keep them and dust. really trying to see some growth b/f i turn 30.....

I made it about 30 months. I did mini chops. Truth is I'm so dependent on being able to pull it up or back or something quick - with my little ones always near :) I was planning to go until I reached my previous length or about 3 years but I cut for my birthday. I don't know if you can really tell how long it will be in its curly state until the relaxed ends are gone. At one point I wished I would have waited a little longer but it's growing and it all usually stays in my bun now so I can work with the shorter length :) Best wishes to you!

i waited a little over 9 months i originally wanted to do a 24month transition but i got that itch and i scratched it.

I transitioned for 14 months. When the time came to BC I was ready. Initially I had the urge around month 12, but i was trying to hold on for 16 months. However, making peace with the two radically different textures was too much for me to handle without causing damage. I found a salon and off with the relaxed ends. I've never looked back, couldn't be happier! I wish you the best, you'll know when you're ready! :yep:

roughly 8 months. originally wanted to do it for 18 months, then it went down to 12 months, then i just didnt want the relaxed ends anymore.

26 months?!! Wow you have ALOT of patience!!

I transitioned for 10 months and then did the BC. I had about 5 inches of new growth by then. What percentage of new growth vs relaxed hair do you have?

my new growth goes to alittle below shoulder length but i've been shoulder length most of my life and dont wanna go back :lachen: with the relaxed ends im touching bra strap. so maybe i have about 5 inches of relaxed hair left. too much to part with - lol.

I am not sure how long I will transition to be honest. I currently have Kinky Twist and am scared of what my hair will look like when I take them out. So, that will also be a determining factor me. I was going to wear braids to get through this transition; we will see.

1st time i transitioned for 7 months, 2nd time i cut it off the same day i got my hair relaxed lol, and this time I plan on transitioning until my natural hair is APL stretched.

Initially, I planned on 12 months. But now I may try to go two years, I need beyond SL natural hair to make sure I don't relax again.

I transitioned for 13 months. I wanted to go longer but I was tired of maintaining the two textures.. I did my own BC and I was in total shock at first. My texture was not as I expected it to be. I thought I was 3c. However, I am 4a. Right now, I am in love with my hair. I am wearing twist and getting a lot of growth with them. If you are maintaining the two textures and you are not getting any breakage, I say cut it when your ready.

I wound up becoming a full natural after transitioning for 11 months.

Originally I wanted to wait at least a year. But after the fifth month into the transition, I began doing several mini chops until I cut the last of my permed ends. I'm glad I didn't wait too long to cut because I've never seen myself with short hair, and I got tired of trying to deal with two textures and the line of demarcation.

I transitioned for exactly 11 months, I chopped on 7/4/05. I think above anything else like everyone else said chop when your ready, whenever that may be.

i hoping to chop at 11 months . im still transitioning im at 5 months now. I dont really think i want to go longer cuz my relaxed hair is short anyway. The Max of the length of my relaxed hair is 5 inches at the Crown. Everywhere else is way shorter. I constantly do mini chops , i cant stand seein those weak ends. they look so thin compared to the rest of the hair...
I'm hoping that at 11 months ill have at least 7 inch new growth. and even if i dont the scissors are still coming out ..hehe
