I'm going to relax next weekend after a 16 week stretch! My ends have been breaking a bit too much for my liking. I have a bottle of the HARDCORE Aphogee I really want to try this weekend. I'm scared to death!!

What are your best tips for ease, getting my moisture back, and whatever else you can advise!! Help!! TIA! :perplexed

Let me ETA: I've used the 2 Minute Reconstructor two weeks in a row...nice results. My hair isn't damaged, but I see a few more extra pieces in the sink after combing.

Why try a hard protein without seing if a light protein will do the job first? Either way, I wouldn't relax until your hair is back to being as healthy as possible.

Use Nexxus Emergencee followed by Humectress for DC if you want a hard protein; if it was me and I didn't HAVE to relax next weekend I would try a couple weeks of Nexxus Keraphix (mild protein) first to work on the breakage.

Good luck, homegirl!!

I like Emergencee a lot. I also use the Aphogee 2 minute, which is also nice. I've heard the hardcore joint is good to use before or after a touch up. I'm not really trying to go longer than 16-17 weeks...

Girl I say go for it. I was really scared of doing hardcore, but girl my hair stopped breaking, it was amazing.

Just make sure you do a super moisturizing DC afterwards

Why is your hair breaking? Are you sure you need protein? Could it be a need for more moisture?

Cleve,
I know a lot of people are scared of the hardcore Aphogee, but when I was relaxed, it was my best friend! Just know that you can't make an attempt to comb your hair while the Aphogee is still in it (you think you have breakage now!???), and in my experience, any good deep conditioner will do to follow up.

Now using any deep conditioner was MY experience, but some may chime in and give you specific conditioners they used.

Go for it!

Thanks hair idol!! Missed you around here...

My plan is to apply it in the sink (kitchen sink, right after washing), pile it on my head and let it do its magic under the dryer. AO HSR is my DC of choice afterwards. Its going down Friday night, I think :ohwell:
