In the Glamour magazine interview, Michelle referenced permed hair. I trust HER word on what SHE has.

If it is relaxed, she definitely has a healthy relaxer. Her hair is beautiful either way. I am glad the girls aren't relaxed. GO OBAMAS!!!!!!

What would be really cool would be if someone could put together a progress strip of pic of her hair over the past 2 years of her husband's campaign because the condition of her hair changed since she first came into the public eye and her hair has grown from about NL to a bit past SL.

I'm having issues with my scanner but according to the article that was in Sophisticates Black Hair (displayed until January 6 with Beyonce on the cover, Page 24), celeb hair pro Zianni Coats says, "She has a relaxer but it's her natural color. And, she has medium coarse hair, that's why it has a lot of body and it holds curls well." Coats says he had the opportunity to work with Mrs. Obama and shared some insights on her popular coif.

I heard she was natural. Someone on this forum made a thread saying that she read a beauty magazine that mentioned that Michelle Obama is chemical free.

I love seeing the girls in their protective styles. You know your a LHCF junkie when you note that the girls mainly wear their hair in protective styles! I thought it was so cute on election day they wore their hair in protective styles that morning and wore it pressed out at Grant Park that night. Their hair is gorgeous though, I wonder if they are natural and pressed as well.

Well articles have been posted here with her saying she is relaxed and her stylist saying she is relaxed so obviously she is.

I remember reading that article and it did mention something like "she doesnt need chemicals" or something like that which made it sound like she was natural. Just because she gets blow outs and flat irons doesnt mean she doesnt have a relaxer. I believe she is relaxed because doesnt she work out alot? All that sweating would most certainly require so much daily maintenance to keep her hair that straight all the time and I dont think she has time for all of that.

Brief vent about this thread: the woman said she had a perm; why can't we accept HER word for what she has??

I thought she was natural w/ a press just by looking, maybe she is texlaxed.

Why?

I always wonder how people can tell by looking that someone's hair is natural but pressed, but when I look at it I see a relaxed head.

Is it because of the thickness? Many have thick and healthy looking relaxed hair - I mean bone straight too.

It is for me because of thickness and also i know naturals that have hair that is "trained" and it looks like that. Honestly where i currently live and in other places i have rarely in real life meet/or know a black female that relaxes regularly and has both healthy and thick real hair, there are far more that don't have both, esp where i live in FL. I know its lhcf, but irl i dont' see it nearly as often as say a natural who presses every two weeks.
