Hi have been natural for a hair but want to change my look early next hair. Many Questions:

1. How do some of you maintain a pofessional pressed look if you are active/or work out a lot?
2. Does anyone know the average rate for pressed and relaxed hair in los angeles? or how much do you pay?
3. Do braids and relaxed hair go well together?

hera, i had a hard time maintaining the straight look (relaxed) while working out regularly when my hair was shorter. it's much easier if you wear protective styles, but mine wasn't long enough at that time. so i wore braids to get it long enough.

i live in the los angeles area. i get my hair done in inglewood. both of the places i got to charge in the $30-60 range no matter what i have done. send me an IM if you want more info.

for me, braids and relaxed hair worked fine. you just have to make sure that you keep your scalp clean, keep the braids well moisturized, and don't get them done too tight.

When I know I am going to sweat and I have a pressed or straight style, I will slick my hair back into ponytail with a little oil, conditioner whatever, but just a little, then I put a scarf on my head...the scarf has to be taut. not so tight you get a headache, but taut wnough that your hair stays in place. then after you workout or whatever, wait until the scarf your head and your hair completely dries before taking the scarf off...this will allow you to keep your straight style a little longer.
