I feel your pain. Yes, it will grow back, but it won't be tomorrow or next month. So, yes, feel bad about losing your hair and keep this important lesson in mind EVERY TIME you go to a stylist:yep:

Oh I won't be going back there anymore, or any where else for that matter.:nono:

I should add - over the years that I have gone to this salon, whenever I requested my blunt bob to be cut even shorter the owners would always say "Oh, are you sure? Is it okay with your husband for you to cut your hair that short???" (as if I would have to ask his permission, anyway). My husband just got his head shaved for the first time there last week and they asked him if I knew he was planning to do that. When I came in for the consult with the stylist, the owner even asked me why I would grow my hair long just to cut it off and I told her I didn't want it cut off. So they didn't seem to have a scissor happy philosophy....Yet, what happened, happened....so I guess they showed me :ohwell:.

awww Pat, i'm sooo sorry you had to go through that! Its no fun seeing hard work and wishes go down the drain. The good part is your hair is gonna thrive even more under your care.

HUGS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh PatTodd I am so sorry this happened. I am getting my hair done next Sunday (going to DC for the Inauguration) anyway, the lady asked if I wanted a trim or cut and I said no, I need to get to know her first. I have to know you well before you do chemicals or cut. You had been to these people before and you trusted them. If I were you, I would let them know that I was disappointed, you are not angry with the salon, it is that one particular person. She/he made a really big mistake and they need to watch this person. Why would he/she disregard your request so blatantly? One inch takes no one from apl to sl, I am sl and many many inches from apl! You should at least be between sl and apl, not barely sl. When you calm down, call back and talk to the owner calmly and let them know how disappointed you are.

I know most of us here are really cautious about hairdressers but it's really nice to have a person here and there that we can count on. I recently found a lady at JCPenney who can do my hair and my two daughters hair, she does a really excellent job and it's such a joy and help to me to have someone I can trust and who really can do a better job than me. I hope at some point you find someone you can trust again.

I am just so sorry this happened to you.

:( I'm sorry this happened. I agree with Hopeful that you should calm down and talk to the owners about the particular stylist. Clearly something went terribly wrong in both her elementary school education (doesn't know the difference between 1 inch and 3 inches) and her cosmetology education (I doubt their philosophy is "fake it til you make is" especially when it comes to cuts/trims). The owner needs to know to keep an eye on her because if she can run away a long time costumer like you then she is bound to run away other costumers. No business owner wants an employee who is messing up the money.

BTW...I hope you didn't pay her! When I was younger and the stylist would burn me with the hot comb I made sure my mom didn't pay full price.

I just read your blog and saw more details about her copping an attitude and giving you the silent treatment. I don't think the lesson is to NEVER trust a professional again but to never trust someone who has an attitude with you and who does not come into full agreement with you before they start cutting. I am not blaming you at all, she was at fault, how dare she do what she wanted with your hair--I could just beat her tail.

I was a victim last month so I completely understand.

If I could figure out how to self relax I'd NEVER go back to a stylist again.

So sorry this happened to you Pat.

Hug.. Sooo Sorry,

But thank you for sharing, You have me scared to go to the salon. I haven't been to a salon in 2 yr, but my mom mention that she wanted me to get my hair straighten for family pictures...
I will make sure that I can see what the Stylist is doing to my hair..

Pat, I am also sorry to hear this and I whole-heartedly agree with LyndseyJK (bolded). If you and your family have been doing business with these people for years, it seems like the owner would definitely understand. Especially if he/she is familiar with you maintaining long hair.

No one can justify being "snotty" when they're providing a public service for profit!!!
