Well, it's not very complicated at all. Here's what I do:
* Wash 1-2x a week with Hair One's Olive Oil
* DC after wash with Joico Moisture Recovery & ORS Replenishing Pack
* While hair is still wet/damp from rinsin out DC, smooth hair into
ponytail with Hemp Seed Butter (Red Palm Butter on top of that if I
have lots of new growth).
* Once hair is in a ponytail, I apply HSB to my ends, then put a small hair
roller on the ends and roll up the ponytail so my ends dont get tangled
up.
* Then I put a plastic shower cap (wrapped around the pony a few times
so that it's a tight small ball.
* Tie hair up in du-rag so that it air-dries into a smooth ponytail.
* Wake up in the morning, apply one of my phony ponys on top of the
baggy and all, and go to work!

For daily upkeep, I do step 3 through the end, substituting the wash with water spritz on with my spray bottle.

It's working for me b/c I'm military and this harsh desert weather (heat, dry, wind) combined with my daily excercise in the harsh weather with the added element of swaet has lead me to so many set backs. I've had to cut my hair twice to ear-length. Now I am grazing shoulder length and not noticing any of the problems I had with moisture retention and breakage.

I hope this helps you out :-)

This is great!! Thanks so much! I will print this out and keep.. LOL I will try this tonight. never heard of this"Joico Moisture Recovery" but have heard of the hair one product at sally's. THANKS AGAIN!

What works for me is spritzing my hair with plain ole water then smoothing on some pure hemp seed butter. Hemp seed butter is moisturizing in itself and the added boost with the water keeps my hair soft and supple.

I have to agree.

The only real moisturizer is water. I use water on my hair everyday either by doing a full rinse in the shower or just spritzing my hair. I'm a natural with type 4 hair and using water all the time has really changed my hair.

Generally, every day I dampen my hair with water (usually warm). Then I put some castor oil in my hands and put that in my hair, focusing on the ends. Since castor oil is thick it helps to keep the water from evaporating too quickly. I do this in the morning when I take my bantu knots out and at night when I put them in.

I think you can spend a lot of time and money searching for the "perfect" moisturizer when you don't really need to. Start with plain water and see where that takes you.

Giovanni Direct Leave-In sealed with Shea Butter and Coconut oil is divine! I've been searching for the perfect moisturizing combo for a year and a half and I finally found it!

Oh and i am inlove with unrefined shea butter! it is great and coconut oil is my BBF and i also use Giovanni direct regularly! :) so i am all set! :)

What works for me is a glob of GVP Humectress Conditioner, a glob of Kenra Moisurizing conditioner, water and Infusium 23 Moisturologie Leave-in all mixed together in my spray bottle. YMMV

Oh my turn! My top 3 favs are:

Castor Oil BABY !!!!!:yep: STAPLE!!!!!

out of the one's i've tried so far i like...
jane carter nourish and shine
hairveda whipped cream
phyto 7 (too expensive and too small a bottle for my budget to purchase again, but it is really my favorite.)

sandy, i'm following your trail, girl. you seem like you could be my hair twin. i'm new to the forum and thus late in the game, but everything you suggest is the bomb for me. i tried nourish and shine when i went to the salon and it was heavenly. granted, the stylist was too heavy handed, but it's smelled great and i had such a reduction in breakage and my ends stayed smooth and soft all week long.
