What moisturizer is the best?!?!?! Please help me, I have DRY hair and I heard that using a daily moisturizer really helps. What are u using?

Thanks!!!

My hair loves Hairveda whipped Ends Hydration & Qhemet root burdock butter,Qhemet Olive and Honey Balm,Proline Softner moisturizer,S-Curl.

Hth:grin:

Girl get ready to get a million different answers on this subject!! I like mango butter and SheScentit hair butter. I bought a bunch before I found what my hair really liked.

Be sure to keep in mind what your hair can handle. I tried several things listed on the board (Giovanni, Keracare Creme hairdress, ORS, etc...) all were too heavy/greasy and weighted my hair down. I can only use NTM leave in daily. Herbal Essence Long Term Relationship is good, a little heavier than NTM but its excellent for wash days.

HTH

Thanks!!

im a girl that kinda likes to stay close to natural ingredients... Any ideas?

Where can I buy the Qhemets stuff? I always hear about it and would LOVE to try it!!! :)

I do like the mango butter by QP elasta too.

Thanks!!

I agree I love NTM

Thanks!! I will go check out the site now.. do which hair butters are truely the best in your opinion and do u apply any moisturizer to your scalp???

I don't put anything on my scalp directly. She has a few different butters but I have only tried the seyani hair butter. I use it before I roller set and right after I take the rollers out. I use the mango butter and the seyani butter through out the week.

out of the one's i've tried so far i like...
jane carter nourish and shine
hairveda whipped cream
phyto 7 (too expensive and too small a bottle for my budget to purchase again, but it is really my favorite.)

I use Phyto 7 because it's very light and then seal with a few drops of camellia oil because it too is very light.

I love just pure coconut oil.... nothing else. I seat with jojoba oil and call it a day. It works so well :)

i did like the NTM also, but trying to stay close to natural ingredients, i kinda let it go, but may have to revisit. lol.

but i will order and try the shescentit 1st.

Does anyone know where i can get the Qhemets alma heavy cream moisturizer stuff from? i keep hearing about it but dont know where to get it??

I use NTM when I roller set or wear straight styles b/c it's light and doesn't weigh my hair down... when I air dry in a braidout or ponytail I use Nexxus Humectress... it keeps my hair very moisturized, especially in the center where it tends to be very dry after air drying... Qhemets Amla Heavy Cream is on my income tax list :yep:

Thanks so much, and yes, i love coconut oil! one of my favs but my hair eats it up, i need somethin a lil more heavy i think. i just ordered some hair butter from shescentit. i hope that helps a bit. :)

I use Jane Carter's Nourishing Cream. It's all natural and works great with my hair. If I don't mind my hair being damp, I'll use her spray leave in.

Right now I am using Trader Joe's Nourish Spa conditioner as a daily moisturizer--LOVE IT!!!

Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose as a deep conditioner makes my hair feel DIVINE!!!

I am relaxed i use mango butter and oilve butter WHEN im out of these i will try MACADAMIA BUTTER AND SHEA OR SHEA ALOE

Thanks!!

I love the natural products for moisture. I havn't used Qhemets products, but my hair HATES Elasta QP mango butter. There's not much actual mango butter, plus the LANOLIN just coats my hair and prevents any moisture from getting in. I feel like I put body lotion on my hair with that stuff.

What works for me is spritzing my hair with plain ole water then smoothing on some pure hemp seed butter. Hemp seed butter is moisturizing in itself and the added boost with the water keeps my hair soft and supple.

Keep in mind, though, that I am on a personal 12-month protective style challenge so this is what i do when bunning (which is EVERY day). This is a really thick moisturizer. (And by the way, using red palm butter on top of the HSB then tying it with a scarf/du-rag will smooth your hair down when you're bunning at 8 weeks or more :-)

When I wore my hair down I loved Carol's Daughter Hair Milk. Hair Milk is very light and i used it nightly when I rolled my hair up. Just a very small dab on each section (and I mean SMALLL, cause this stuff can be runny and leave your hair wet and weighed down). When I removed the rollers in the morning my hair was very moisturized.

Excellent!!!!!
I would like to do the bun protective styling thing too.. but what is the regimen.. can u please fill me in?? like do u have a wet bun all the time, and how are u bunning? just wraping your hair round a ponytail? I know i sound ccrazy, but i really wanna know... :) Thanks!!! :)

Dabur Vitaka coconut oil has done wonders for my hair. Great moisturizer & nothing else is needed to keep my hair shiny and soft.

Mrs.TheBronx I know you can get the qhemet biologics on there website qhemetbiologics.com and on naturallycurly.com. I'm a long term transitioner and I use there clarifying shampoo, detangling ghee, moisturizers, and oils and pomades and my hair loves it. The products really help blend my two textures.

Well, it's not very complicated at all. Here's what I do:
* Wash 1-2x a week with Hair One's Olive Oil
* DC after wash with Joico Moisture Recovery & ORS Replenishing Pack
* While hair is still wet/damp from rinsin out DC, smooth hair into
ponytail with Hemp Seed Butter (Red Palm Butter on top of that if I
have lots of new growth).
* Once hair is in a ponytail, I apply HSB to my ends, then put a small hair
roller on the ends and roll up the ponytail so my ends dont get tangled
up.
* Then I put a plastic shower cap (wrapped around the pony a few times
so that it's a tight small ball.
* Tie hair up in du-rag so that it air-dries into a smooth ponytail.
* Wake up in the morning, apply one of my phony ponys on top of the
baggy and all, and go to work!

For daily upkeep, I do step 3 through the end, substituting the wash with water spritz on with my spray bottle.

It's working for me b/c I'm military and this harsh desert weather (heat, dry, wind) combined with my daily excercise in the harsh weather with the added element of swaet has lead me to so many set backs. I've had to cut my hair twice to ear-length. Now I am grazing shoulder length and not noticing any of the problems I had with moisture retention and breakage.

I hope this helps you out :-)
