Is there anything specifically good about the Denman Brush?

I keep hearing about it but it just looks like a regular brush to me. Does it have special qualities or is it just the "type" of brush that it is that makes is so wonderful? Lol

EVERYTHING about it is wonderful....it is the "type" that makes it so. one can try the fake-me-out Goody brand or some other brand knock-off of the Denman, but it is not the same.

Denmans detangle, won't cause breakage, helps to make a lot of different types of natural hair curls more uniform, there is a lot.

when the forum's search function is fixed, do a search and you will see more yeas than nays for the denman.

try eeeeeet! :yep:

what she said - my daughter and i are sitting on the bed, read the question, and we both said "everything" at the same time. the tools are just as important as the products - if you brush your hair, this is the one to use.

shoot, it helped me see the line of demarcation clearly b4 i cut...yes the BC. I did it tonight!!

On relaxed heads, I've seen varying reviews. But for me, I use it when I get at least .5 inch of new growth. It detangles and smooths and picks out shed hair all at the same time. But I do detangle with a wide tooth a little before using it. For my relaxed hair, I love it, but have to be careful with it.

It's a great brush. I purchased mine a few years ago, and I had the nerve to not use it until a few months ago.

Congrats on the BC! Keep us updated.

As far as the denman brush, I do not own one yet but I have a brush that similiar to it. I guess for 2009 I can take the time to go out and buy it.

Congrats on your BC! Your hair is lovely!

OnTopic: I love my Denman. I use it after finger-combing my hair. It detangles like a dream, but it's most useful when removing shed hair. The Denman gives great definition too, but also causes more shrinkage (which I personally don't mind).

So I'd say it's the qualities that make it a great brush.

When I was natural I used my Denman brush in the shower while rinsing out the conditioner. It it defined my waves and curls (visit my fotki). I still use my Denman brush.

For me it works like a comb but since it's a brush I can get a better handle on it and detangle more throughly if that makes sense. It's more sturdy than a comb for me.

i LOVE my denman, I use it to detangle sometimes in the shower, but i mostly use it to wrap m hair. I got mines from Sally before they stopped selling/carrying them.

If It wasn't for the Denman and aloe vera liquid and glycerin mix for moisture, I would have put a relaxer back in by now.

The Denman detangles my hair like none other. Before pressing my 4b hair, I use my Denman to detangle my ends and I get a relaxer smooth finish.

Buy one, its worth the $.

The denman is great on my natural and relaxed hair. It detangles very well (I also use a wide tooth comb first) and makes my curls perfectly defined. It also distributes product really well throughout the hair. I love it!

It has magical powers!!!!!

silly! LOL  my former hair dresser would use it to blow dry my hair (on a low/medium setting). there was no static and my hair came out really straight so there was less time and less heat w/ the flat iron or curling irons.

I  my denman. I have a denman paddle brush too. I use it to detangle, distribute product, and smooth/slick back my hair. Nothin makes those waves pop like some coconut oul and a denman!

I also really like that it gets down to the scalp, so it's like a scalp massage while you brush - it helps me get those tight smooth buns and ponys that I always thought were impossible b/c my hair is so thick. Well worth it IMO :yep:

That thing took way too much of my hair out. I don't think I using it right. B/c I'm relaxed, I can't just USE it. . .if that makes sense. I may revisit it sometime in February when I have much more new growth.

It's a great detangler but I agree, when it comes to my ends, it takes way too much hair out. But I love it to slick back my hair when I do a puff.

i just ordered a denman paddle brush on monday and havent recieved it yet. EVEN THOUGH I ASKED FOR OVERNIGHT SHIPPING.

amazon. i order from them alot and they are usually good about getting my products to me on time or early even when i dont ask for overnight or 1 day shipping.

Thank you. I like them too and 90% of my Internet shopping I do with them.

WOW! I didn't expect all these responses. Hmm...maybe I should look into investing in a Denman. My hair is relaxed but it still may be worth a try to help out during the long stretches.

The Denman is the BEST hands down for blow drying!!! I've never, NEVER been able to get my natural hair straight when blow drying, but the Denman my hair gets about 95% straight, even the roots! And I blow dry only on cool as well. I use my jilbere shower comb to detangle first, then I use my Denman. Loves it!!!
