What's so special about a Denman Brush?

You know I bought one the other day as I had seen so many people use it in their detangling process and I was looking for a way to improve my method. My hair is too curly at the ends for the denman brush and it felt like I was ripping them. I may as well have used a fine tooth comb. Didn't work for me :nono:

Hmm. I'm relaxed and it works great for both my hair and my daughter's hair. I heart my denman brush. I jokingly call it Den Man, my hair husband. My daughter has issues with tangles every wash. Her hair is relaxed, I use the denman brush after putting in conditioner. Sometimes I use it during the rollersetting process to smooth big sections of hair. I also use it to wrap my hair after roller setting and during the week when I re-wrap it. It works better than paddle brushes to wrap in my opinion. I also have thick hair so maybe that makes a difference.

I had to remove 3 rows of it to get it to stop yanking out my hair even though I use the shower comb first. It works much better for me this way, plus I think my hair is too thick to use ALL the rows. Though, it seems to make my hair MORE frizzy than it was before I used it. O_o As a result, I won't use it to define my hair but only to help distribute conditioner and stuff better.

for me the denman causes more strinkage..Making my hair spiral ...I think I will like it more once my hair is longer..

I have a real Denman brush, (don't know which one, only that it's a small one) and I have an inexpensive knock-off which is larger. I had to remove every other row of teeth on the big one, now I like it even better than the real one! It's more firm than the real Denman.

I love it because it can get through my thick hair and it feels sooooo good on my scalp as I brush! I don't really use it to define my curls, but I can definitely feel my hair curling up when I use it to distribute conditioner! It works as a fantastic detangler as well. Much better than any of my wide tooth combs!

I also like to stretch my hair at night by brushing it back and tying it down, and my Denman knock-off is the only thing that can really help me do that!

This is what I don't like about the denman. It gives me even more shrinkage than i already have.
