How do you moisturize your scalp? What do you use? How often? What are the results? Ex-scalp greasers feel free to chime in.

Scalp greaser checkin in!

Currently rotating:

-Qhemet's Amla Pomade
-LaVida Given by Nature Ginger Juices & Berries Hairdress
-HairVeda Cocasta Oil
-HairVeda Avosoyo Oil
-Carol's Daughter Hair Balm
-Just ordered 'My Honey Child' Sophia's Old-Fashioned Grease

The more i stretch, the more often i have to grease my scalp. At 10 weeks post, i have to do it nearly every day.

Results? No dry scalp/dandruff, less shedding, etc.

Yep, same here. The more new growth the more I have to put something on my scalp. I use Mizani's Rose H2O mixed 50/50 with Humectress and it works great.

Do you put the oil on your scalp?
How often are you washing your hair in between relaxers/as the time for your next relaxer nears?

Please don't make me run to Walgreens tonight. I'm trying to avoid the cold. :lachen:

What is the end result? What does it do to your new growth?

It really does make the NG managable between relaxers during those last few weeks. The humectress makes it lighter and less oily. After I do my entire head I tie it down and its smooth the next morning.

I only oil my scalp when it feels itchy and dry. I typically use jojoba oil but will also use some creamier things if my scalp is really itchy.

I like to use coconut oil with Rosemary EO, mixed with whatever other good stuff I have laying around.

My skin and scalp are always dry - more during the winter.

Because I'm using megatek I need to oil my scalp prior to avoid EXCESS shedding, and for that, I use coconut oil or liquid shea butter.

I don't use very much just enough to calm the dryness. The week of my relaxer the scalp is really, really itchy so I may use a bit more.

Yes, i put the oil directly on my scalp. I wash 1-2x a week no matter what.

Gotta use the lighter oils/pomade right after a fresh relaxer then the heavier oils as i stretch like black castor oil, the cocasta, etc.

I use a heavy oil (proclaim 7 in 1)
I had alot of growth when I greased but the grease got on everything and my hair attracted dirt and lint like a swifter.
My hair :lachen: at light products

I used to be a dedicated greaser, but since I've stopped "greasing" all of my scalp issues, including the persistent flakiness, itching, and dandruff that I've had for years have ceased.

However, greasing does work for some people & I still do an occasional light oil on my scalp for a scalp massage or pre-shampoo treatment w/ essential oils.

I'm using my DAX Sulphur as often as possible. First go round I did not give it a real chance. I'm using it often to see the results..has MSM, biotin and some minty cooling stuff in it, feels great to my scalp too.

hey girl hey. i dont "grease" it but i oil it with the moe grow oil at the moment. my scalp drinks oils quicker than a sponge. i also use a mixture of IC fantasia leave in, evoo, castor oil, && tea tree oil

True Confessions? Okay, Yeah, i'll fess up, i'm a scalp greaser, with mt, mn mix, sulfur oil, mtg or whatever combo i happen to make. my big prob, i don't know when enough is enough, so i'm heavy-handed and come out looking like a slick cat by the head....then i'm like, "oh, did i use too much?!?" Don't judge me.

i stopped putting things on my scalp since joining this board.....my scalp is the healthiest its ever been

no flakes.......constant itchiness etc.......

the frequent washes helped i'm sure......

i only put oil on my scalp when i do a pre-poo......other than that i avoid ANYTHING on my scalp thats not a shampoo

I want to not be a scalp greaser, but sometimes it feels so GOOD after you put something on it! I was using the Hollywood Beauty Castor Oil for a while, now I'm using m MN/JoJoba mix on it.

I went so long thinking it was bad for me, but I randomly found out that if I apply a light oil to my damp scalp before I rollerset or otherwise dry/style my hair, I don't get dry itchy scalp. Who knew?! It's just like how I have to apply my lotion to my damp skin after a shower. Huh! :drunk:

Edit: I also like the old school grease. I have a few of those too.

Can you post a pic of it?

Don't forget to let us know how it works!
