The UPS update is that it is in my hometown UPS... It should be dropped off today I think at some point... Yea!...

I've been looking for something like this. I flatironed my hair for Christmas and it was all silky and smooth, but my edges were still nappy. That drives me crazy. Please post results after using this...and please please include pictures of your edges if you can.

The PJ has set her sights on it... think I'm going to cop one!! I have a plug in pressing comb.. but I don't think it gets hot enough to work these edges!!

So much riding on this thing... and my review... Haha... I hope I can meet everyone's expectations. :hair:

I am getting relaxed on Saturday, so I really hope my people at UPS deliver it today. I don't wanna be messing with my hair too much before the relaxer. And I don't want my stylist to think I don't need one if I do all my roots. Haha... :rocker:

So I think I will only do a few sections. I hope I can get my camera to zoom all up in the jungle. Haha... :locks:

Dog gone it!!... I just called and spoke to someone at UPS. I said my package appears to be in town is it on a truck or still at the depot. Can I pick it up if i isn't on the truck?

She said the shipment hasn't been unloaded yet. So even if I went up there they would not be able to give me the package. And my depot had everyone go home at 3pm. Doe... :wallbash:

So this is for sure coming in the mail today as I see it is on the UPS truck, unless something catostrophic happens. So hopefully I can do something with this tonight. I really wish I would've gotten it on Wed. I have based my scalp several times since I am getting relaxed tomorrow and of course I need nappy roots to test with :hair:, but they are all greasy now. :wallbash:
So we will see ya'll...

Ok... So I finally just got home to try to use this thing a little bit.

And the problem I thought I was going to have was indeed a problem. I have based my scalp so much for tomorrow's relaxer that it really wasn't right to try using this. So I tried to take pictures but it just wasn't proper usage of this thing.

A few things I can say about it is...

The comb surrounding the barrel does not rotate like the Rsession Tools version appeared to, so that was a good thing or a bad thing depending which way you looked at it. The reason it was bad for me was I had so much grease on my hair that after trying to run some roots through there the grease was smoking on the barrel and I could not get it off where the comb was. :nono:

I wanted to do a piece in the middle of my hair but it was way to greasy. I really did try, but it just wasn't good to attempt. And my hair hasn't been washed since Tues and that was a co-wash. So my hair was not clean either. But I did do some edges around the nape area. It worked well back there from the little bit I did. So I know it works from that. The comb surrounding the barrel is very small so you can't take to big of pieces of hair.

So for edges it works great. For roots it is TBD. :hair: The hard part I can forsee is getting the comb out after you have straightened the roots because you do not want to go the full length of your hair with that tiny little comb.

So I am sorry I couldn't do more... :wallbash: I know everyone was excited for my review. I just wish I would've gotten it sooner. I definitely had enough new growth for a real down and dirty test.

So I will relax tomorrow and keep you posted on this item... I hope ya'll still love me?!

You just have to lift the comb out of the hair once you feel you have gotten the roots. I don't know why the comb had to be so little. It does appear though that the comb could easily come off after taking out two little screws. But then you are more likely to burn yourself with just that little gold barrel.

Yes. The Babyliss comb that surrounds the barrel is stationary, whereas the Rsession Tools appeared to rotate in whichever way you were directing or grabbing your hair.

I just went and watched the Rsession Tools video... I think their comb doesn't move around the barrel either... Maybe I am just seeing things...

Hey Musicachic, have you used this recently, was thinking about buying it. Wanted to ask if you think it is worth it; I am either gonna buy it or just save for Rsessions version. Please let me know, I am looking to buy in a few days as I am 7 weeks post

BTW it looks a lot like the Root Control by Rsession Tools.

:rocker:

I have the rsession tools Root control and it really gets that last little .5 inch of hair straight right down to the root when I straighten my hair. I LOVE IT! You can basically just comb your hair bc the way the comb is made, the iron part will not burn you. (I am not proficient at using a straightening comb yet)

the comb and the barrel don't move on the rsession tool. you use it just like you would a comb:yep:

It's like a hot comb that takes the comb grooves and glides your hair over a barrel that looks a curling iron barrel. It's built to not really give you a chance to burn your scalp for the clumsy folks like myself.

The video on the Rsession site shows their similar product that costs and arm and a leg (and a foot) in action. The Babyliss is the regular people's version I am hoping. :hair:

Exactly. :yep: The babyliss looks exactly the same to me.:ohwell:

Do you use it on the entire length of your hair or just the roots? I'm going to start my transition again and I wonder if it should only be used on new growth. I've used a 3/4 inch flat iron to touch up my new growth and sometimes I'll just run it down the length of my hair. I think the comb attachment would help tremendously.

I think the Rsession one you have ceramic (preferred) and this Babyliss is titanium. I don't know the conditioning properties of titanium just yet.

Has anyone used this tool?

ETA: The reviews are not that great on Amazon. I'm waiting for a ceramic straightening comb that doesn't cost $200.00

Bumping in the morning and hoping for more responses!

Here's a pic of the Babyliss and the link to it on Folica. $49.99 and I found it cheaper on other sites. No reviews yet. :nono:
