For a virgin relaxer do, I put it on the roots and the ends..or just the shaft...

I've never seen a virgin relaxer done roots last or middle first. I've always done it and seen it done by taking big sections (according to hair thickness) and enough product to coat the hair, smooth it in a little, then move on to the next part. Then going back through and smoothing the hair (not combing) with your hands. To be more specific on timing, generally the hair starts to soften a little after about 5 minutes. So if you are really concerned about uniformity...you should aim to try and finish your whole head in about 5 maybe 10 min. This also depends on hair type though

Since this is a virgin relaxer you don't have to worry too too much about precise application because the relaxer doesn't start working the exact moment you put it on your hair. When I last did my own virgin relaxer, i just put it all through my hair real quick, made sure everything was coated without being too generous with the stuff and smoothed.

This is just a suggestion, but since this is your first relaxer and you aren't sure how long to keep it in your hair I would choose a lye relaxer, this would allow you to do a corrective after a few weeks (if needed). In my experience no-lye's tend to "lock" your hair into place, for lack of a better description.
This was kinda in my head to just throwing it on like conditioner, but in still 4 parts and then go make and get in depth with it. But who knows...

I would feel better if you did it that way (meaning half and half). I think of all you ladies like sister, and when it comes to our hair it has to be just right. And all the hair you got, I dont want it to go wrong anywhere.
I really appreciate that, It helps so much when other people care as much as you.
I'm just hoping that I do something stupid.
But don't be too worried my hair is resistant...that is why I'm considering the normal for the tex lax instead of mild.

Sorry, I just read that you wanted to texturize it. So I went back and edited my post to say 5-10 minutes....just in case you have hair that responds very well to relaxers.
Thanks, I think I may be more in the 10-15 min range,lol.....I might just use the mild.hummm

LOL, you will do just fine. I will wave my magic finger your way to help you.

Your going to need lots of relaxer for all that hair Does it only come in those lil ice cream kiddie looking things or they have like 16oz too?
The Mizani Butter Blends( the one I will most likely use) is about 33 oz..should I get 2?

I didnt know that you were texlaxing!
Yep!
I originally wanted bone strait, but I didn't want to take the chance.
However i will be more straight than curly, if you get what I mean. I want to be able to do a roller set, and for it to look nice without needing to flat iron.

Oh okay. I was texlax for a while and didnt even know it, I just knew that my hair was still curly. I just fixed that in November.

when it rained, how did your hair hold up?
It didnt hold up at all, when it got humid my hair wil start to fizz and if it was foggy my hair would curl/wave up. I say when you wanna wear it str8 use something like SMB or something, maybe the ladies know something good too.

Yea, please do. So now you can buy more products with the extra saved money. So will you be doing the light protein treatment after and the heavy a wk before or what?
Well I'll do a light protein treatment a week before,
I'm not sure if I should put the silk amino acids on my hair and let it dry and do the relaxer, or just put in the in relaxer.

Then I'll do another light protein a week after the relaxer, I have heard of people doing a light protein treatment right after the relaxer...I'm still looking up stuff about this.

Exactly what I was afraid of, :perplexed
I have a sample of SMB, I guess I will still have to put it to use.
how long did you keep the relaxer in, when it was tex laxed?

Yea doing it right after it put some protein make in your hair, they say. I just do it cause my hair feels stronger again.

I wasnt texlaxed on purpose. I didnt know it was called texlax until I came here. I started going to the stylist and in my last pic you see my hair isnt as sleek and smooth b/c my ends were underprocessed, when it was NG like in the 1st pic. I did the relaxer in my 1st and that was a super perm LOL so I dont see how my hair was underprocessed using a super. I use to leave relaxers in for a long time I know, cant give an exact amount but I am thinking like 20-30 mins. I dont think you should do this...:wallbash:

I do. But others do it relaxer, protein, and then neatralizer.
ohhh, ok!
what if I did, neutralize, protein, neutralize!
I seriously thought about that, this relaxing process is interesting, another reason why I'm excited to do it, then maybe I can do other people's relaxers if I can get it right.
