I have to give a thumbs down on this. The Ghee does Smell like the Oyin, and I stopped buying that because there was no detangling and the heavy smell....

( I knew it reminded me of something)
I have to use LARGE amounts to get the tangles to rub out. Since it is pricey.... I cannot afford to use it in that manner....:nono:

The original recipe helped me to melt tangles INSTANTLY without the use of a comb.

It is back to Aloe Vera and oil for me....

The cocoa tree detangling ghee is excellent and really gets the job done in terms of moisture, softness, and detangling. In my opinion this product works best on damp/semi-wet hair. I have tried it on dry hair and the results were not that good.

ETA:

Yesterday I used the ghee in conjunction with the burdock root cream and that was definitely a winning combo. It left the root of my hair very smooth and soft. I rocked a sock bun yesterday and got tons of compliments. I highly recommend that combo.

Interesting... I prefer to use ONE product to detangle.. thanks for the tip though....

I loved the ghee for taking out my twists. I am wearing a half wig with twists underneath so I was not trying to do a twist out. I dampened my hair then used the ghee on each twist and they came out without tangling. I will use it until it is all gone but I don't think I will buy it again because as others have said it smells just like Oyin Whipped Pudding (which I love) and has basically the same consistancy and the whipped pudding is $16 for 8 oz.

This is my thing. That is what I miss about the Olive Cream Detangler. The Ghee just does not give that. it may be good for other uses, but melting tangles on application, it really it not - for me at least.

I give this one the thumbs down too. It didn't do anything for me other than smell good. I'll stick to the Herbal Essence conditioner or KBB hair milk on dry hair.

why was occd discontinued?

yes.

:(

I ordered Komaza Care's Shea Butter Hair Lotion to try. Many of the other products I have tried are full of emulsifying wax and glycerin. Don't mind them, but not so high on the ingredient list.

I HOPE HOPE HOPE the Komaza lotion comes to the rescue.

Komaza Care Shea Butter Hair Lotion 8oz
Ingredients: Purified water Dipalmitoylethyldimonium Chloride (A derivative of Palm Oil), African Shea Butter, Lecithin, Soy Quat, Vitamin A, C, & E, Pro-vitamin B5, Castor Bean Oil, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Hydrolyzed Silk Amino Acid, Cellulose, jojoba oil infused with Hibiscus, Nettle, Horsetail, Rosemary, Lavender, and Coltsfoot, Soybean oil, Inositol, Cinnamom Cassia.

I plan to get this combo in the spring. I am using up the last of my OO Detangler and I love that stuff. I should have stocked up when I heard she was discontinuting that product. I hope I like the new detangler as well.

Where do you purchase your 8 oz Oyin from?

I lurves my ghee, just got another two jars. I think the oyin whipped pudding and this have the same scent of dark chocolate but they definitely worked differently for me. No way can I use the whipped pudding alone on damp hair. Now the ctdg I can use on damp hair without a leave in underneath, and then put my qhemet aohc and balm on top and I'm happy as a piggy in mud.

I really like the ghee. I was skeptical at first but I'm really glad I purchased it. It is somewhat greasy and I actually don't mind. I am 9 months post, hadn't washed my hair in weeks, and used some conditioner that was not moisturizing at all. The ctdg made detangling a breeze!

congrats!!!

I thought about trying this, but I have had horrible experiences with the heavy cream and the previous detangler. So I think I will pass. But that komaza lotion sounds good, keep us posted.

Bumping are any of you still using this? And if so how is it working for you? Im late on this and i just got mine today, I can't wait to use it.

i like the chocolatey smell. it was "ok". i expect major slippage when something has "detangling" in it's name.

Thank you me-t, i hope i like it. I got it because it has one of my favorite ingredients in it that works well for my hair behentrimonium methosulfate. It did not have enough slip for you?

no ma'am, it was like a creamy leave-in. a pretty good one really, but at i was in love with the heavy cream, so i had no reason to use it. i'm not a pj so i don't need a lot a products that do the same thing.

Ok ive used it on damp freshly shampoo'd hair. Im a 4a coily with thin hair. As far as detangling this did not do the job, i used plenty but i could not detangle. I detangle once a week on the regular so um yeah. I might be able to salvage this as a leave in. My hair is not completely dry so i won't know until later if it provides enough moisture. What works for some may not work for others and i guess it just wasn't for me. I won't purchase another jar after this is gone. And if it doesn't work as a leave in. Ill put it up on the swap board.

I use this as my leave-in. I use it moreso as a moisturizer and softener than a detangler. It doesn't get greasy for me if I don't overdo it.

OT: I really miss the Sidr Tree Butter Balm. I overmoisturized my relaxed hair with that once. Wish Qhemet would bring something similar to that back to her product line-up.

Hi shocol my hair is still moist and if its like this all day im going to use it for a moisturizer too. I wish i could have tried her old detangler. Ive only tried the brbc, the heavy cream and the amla pomade. These didn't do so well on my hair either. I hope she has some new things coming out in the future. She has good products but they don't work for me. At least i can use the ghee for something.
