Hello Ladies,

Does anyone have any reviews on Qhemet Biologics, Cocoa Detanngling Ghee which just came out?

Best,
Almond Eyes

I have not used it as a leave in yet, which is what I intended to use it for.

But this is what I have so far:

It smells like cocoa butter, appropriately because is like the 2nd ingredient. It is not was creamy as the Olive Cream Detangler. I put a little on my dry hair when my ends were really in need of some moisture. It did not give me the moisture my dry ends needed, by gave my hair wonderful shine. It may work better on wet hair, I just have not gotten a chance to try that yet. I am going to try a section of wet hair when I wash my hair tomorrow.

So far, I don’t like it as much as the Olive Cream Detangler which was good on wet and dry hair. I may love it on wet hair, but that remains to be seen. I would have to get used to smelling like cocoa butter, too.

aww that sucks Honeydew, hopefully you'll have more luck with it on your wet hair. I wish I had a chance to try the OOCD while it was around.

I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It leaves my hair soft, easy to detangle and I can forgo my normal moisture routine for a day or two after using it.

I used it on damp hair (section by section), then let it air dry.

The cocoa tree detangling ghee is excellent and really gets the job done in terms of moisture, softness, and detangling. In my opinion this product works best on damp/semi-wet hair. I have tried it on dry hair and the results were not that good.

ETA:

Yesterday I used the ghee in conjunction with the burdock root cream and that was definitely a winning combo. It left the root of my hair very smooth and soft. I rocked a sock bun yesterday and got tons of compliments. I highly recommend that combo.

I tried it and do not like it as much as the OCCD. It's not bad as a leave-in. It smells chocolatey, like Oyin Whipped Pudding. The consistency is very light and airy because it is highly whipped. It's almost like a heavy mousse (the kind you eat since i've never tried the kind for hair). The OCCD was more solid. The Ghee aborbs better into the hair, the OCCD was oilier. But I liked the OCCD because it was more helpful in detangling. It was the best detangler I had, so I put up with the oiliness. The Ghee does not compare in that respect to me. Now my best detangler is V05 Vanilla Mint Tea. I guess I should look at the bright side, since Qhem products cost $14-$16 and the V05 costs 99 cents. Oh, and you'll notice a price increase on the Ghee. While the OCCD was $16 for 8 oz, the Ghee is $14 for 5 oz. Oh, I tried it on both dry and dampened hair.

Natural ladies who tried it and also use and like Burdock Root Butter Cream; how does it compare? TIA

The Ghee is light and fluffy, the Burdock Cream is creamy. They both absorb well into the hair. If I had to choose, though, I'd go with the Burdock Cream. I just like it better and the price is better.

Am I the only one who is mad that this is called ghee but isn't ghee?

Mini rant over...

 I noticed that.

Okay I tried it on a section of hair tonight as a leave in. I used it on about 1/8 of my hair, and the Olive Creme Detangler on the rest (:nono: gonna miss this when it is gone).

It made my hair feel soft but it is not as detangling as the Olive Detangler for me. I will revisit that when I try it all over.

It is not as oily as the Olive Detangler, but I did not mind that about the Olive Detangler. Actually I kinda liked it (or maybe just got used to it)

I think I have to use more of the Detangling Ghee than I do with the Olive Detangler, which stinks because of the small size of the Ghee. You only need a little of the Olive Detangler to get the job done.

I really don't care for the cocoa butter smell. But, I have never really like cocoa butter. I would have to get used to that, but I think it would turn me off sometimes, especially around that time of the month when I am more sensitive to smells that bother me.

All in all, it was not a waste of $$ and I think I will get some use out of it.

It is not a match to the Olive Detangler, in my opinion, but it is a good product, which is what we have come to expect from Qhemet.

Before I make this my go-to leave in, I will see if the Burdock can work for me. If not.....:look:

Awww lol, don't be mad. It's called that because of its consistency. It's like a buttery spread IMO. Ghee is the Hindi term for butter. Whipped puddings aren't really puddings, glazes aren't really glazes and butter creams aren't really made out of milk fat. Food terms are borrowed due to texture similarities.

I am glad you posted that! It had me going to google doing research about it.

You know I had heard a while back that ghee was butter. When I saw that ladies here were using "ghee butter" I was confused.

Hehe. While most ghee's are milk based (buffalo or cow), there are also vegetable ghee's which can be made from any type of vegetable oil/fat. Ghee is also an ayurveda term which fits right in as I've been using ayurvedic ingredients since 2004.

Thanks for this, on that fact alone I will have to pass :ohwell:. I can't stand the smell of Oyin Whipped Pudding.

I don't like the smell either. I went to a local store that sells QB hoping they had some OCCD left on their shelves, but there was none. I really can't get past the smell of the Ghee so I'll have to find a new favorite detangler.

For the people using the Burdock Root cream, can it be used as a detangler too?

Okay so I used the Cocoa Ghee again today as a leave in. This time on a much larger section of hair. I think it will work for me!

The "feel" is different than Olive Detangler as I put it on my hair. I does not feel as detangling and softening at first touch. But once I work a small bit in it does fine. I was unable to finger detangle as easily, but I worked it out. :yep:

The cocoa butter smell that I don't care for is not as overbearing on as I thought it would be. I don't even really smell it now that my hair is all done. I think it just smells strong in the jar.

Overall, I think is is a good replacement for me as a leave in. I can see some that used the Olive Detangler on dry hair as a moisturizer having more trouble.

I wish it was in a bigger jar, though. That would be nice. :yep:

I think the Burdock can be used as a detangler. I am not sure if you are natural or relaxed, but for my thick, not so straight, relaxed hair, the Burdock is good, but gets a but harder as I get more NG. It was going to be my 2nd choice if the Cocoa Ghee did not work out and just cross the NG bridge when I get to it. :look:

I was willing to try SOMETHING/ANYTHING by Qhemet for my leave in. I have bombed out on everything else that I have tried.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll stick with my burdock cream. I love the stuff.

Thanks for the feedback on the new product. I was quite disheartened to see the OCCD discontinued. It was the best moisturizer I ever had. I ordered a sample of the Ghee and hopefully it works out. But I'm concerned that it seems to not work well with dry hair (that's what I used the OCCD for).

I have about two teaspons of OCCD left and I am in desparate need of a replacement. I used this as a moisturizer and not a leave in. I guess I will try the ghee and see what happens.

Have you tried the Heavy Cream or Burdock Root Butter Cream? Neither of those are as oily as the OCCD, but they are great on dry oil. You can seal with oil with those. I found that the OCCD on dry hair did not really needing oil sealing for me. But Burdock and Heavy do, at times. They are both great though.

Qhemet needs to let us have some sampling parties.

I love the new cocoa detangler: from the smell to its performance. My hair is so thick and when i use it section by section and finger comb, all the tangles, knots fall off easily...I loove it!

I tried this tonight after I did a 2-step henna and indigo treatment.

I have relaxed thin/fine hair. My hair was damp after using Wen CC and Oil in Fig.
I used a dime sized application and my hair is drying very nicely.
2

I was pretty disappointed when the Olive Cream Detangler was discontinued; it was my favorite moisturizer/leave in and the only product that I repurchased on a regular basis. However, I have tried the Cocoa Tree Detangling Ghee and it is a decent replacement although I find myself using more product than when I used to use the Olive Detangler. The ghee does give me a good amount of shine and is less oily than the Detangler. For me,the Detangling Ghee works well on both my wet and dry hair and the scent does not bother me. The texture is smooth and it is easy to apply but...... I still miss the Olive Cream Detangler, it was just perfect for me. :sigh: Oh Well

I just saw this. I tried the heavy cream a while ago and it was too heavy. I have never tried the Burdock root.
