I am grateful my hair is growing, it's a lot thicker than it was when I started and less brittle. Is there a "best" way to grow the middle of my hair?

For some reason the new/current picture in my signature won't show... any help?

nightly scalp massages in that area with EVOO might bring blood to the area and increase growth there.

I have that same spot. I used to cut it even all the time but now I just let it do it's thing. I noticed that my hair is a different texture back there. I may try the braiding technique and see if that helps. Someone on the board grew her nape really well by doing that.

I have a similar problem but it is just in the very center of my head. The crown area. I will have 2-3 inches of new growth everywhere and then 1.5 in that area. I started using growth aids and massaging that area but I hate touching that part of my hair because it is prone to frizziness. I have to get back on it though.

I have that too. The nape is a different texture. It's softer and curlier and does a poor job of filling in for the lushness of the stronger textured hair. I think I'll start braiding it but with such a softer texture there, I think it'll always be overwhelmed by the rest of my hair. I call that my "whimpy" hair area.

Mine got better after I went natural and broke off again when I texlaxed. Maybe, only relax that area every other time.

Do you blow dry?

stop it....let air dry and then style (flat iron)..
then dont comb for a week...this works wonders!!!!

I have the exact same issue! "Whimpy hair area" is the perfect way to describe it. I've always just had to contiously trim down the other areas to keep it even but I'd like to be able to remedy the problem.

This is what I've been doing. I also relax that part last so its treated for the least amount of time. I think it has helped but it will probably take a while longer for me to see the full results of doing this long term.

Do you part your hair a lot in the middle? I've been doing that for years and the effects are now starting to show. Now I'm trying to wean myself off it. Instead of massaging which does nothing for me I scritch that part.

Oh gawd, that dreaded "v." I once heard someone say trim the rest of it to that level...like it's supposed to magically grow in. What scalp treatments do you use? Can you get Liz & Daughter's "Come Back Creme" and massage that in twice daily? That product "grew" back in a very short and damaged area of my hair in a short time. It will thicken and make the hair stronger and I swear it spot grows faster. It's creamy and not greasy at all in the hair and has no strong odor.

I used to have a "v" as well. One thing I did was stop sleeping on the back of my head, but rotating on the sides. That is a tough problem, I know:sad:

hwiseman, is the grow back creme available online only? I'm such a wild sleeper, I end up all over the place... I notice from a few other pics when I was bunning my hair daily the middle was filling in. I'd love to try the creme you mentioned though. Is it pricey?

My thoughts are that there is a prominent bony area there and the hair is not as thick in that little section. It rubs out the eaiest, just like what happens to babies. Have you noticed how when babies hair starts to kink up, that will be the roughest feeling, the hardest to tame and just seems to not thrive. I believe what you love will thrive. We tend to neglect that part the most when it comes to moisturizing, conditioning and lubricating the ends. I also think we need to give it oxygen now and then by just parting it and letting it be exposed to the oxygen, while we gently massage it. It's like trying to grow beautiful flowers on a rocky soil. It really needs extra attention.

I have the same problem area and this is what is working for me. I also trim that area, dusting lightly when the ends feel crispy and look all wispy. I apply a consistent amount of Megatek there now and when I am rinsing my hair I spend considerably more time rinsing that area because that is the area that general gets the least water. Hope this helps.

Oh, is that what it is? My granny always gave me the Indian girl braids and ALWAYS parted straight down the middle. I think I actually have a permanent part now...
