Running Out Of Hair Inspirations...

I'm still natural as well. I think there are quite a few of us. I agree with another poster, I won't be relaxing my hair again. I don't see it in my near or far future.

i'm still here. my hair is not long yet, but it's healthy!LOL! i can't go back that route. relaxed hair doesn't even fit into my life now. it is so much easier to take care of my natural texture with a husband and two tots running around here. i know you know what i'm talking about! LOL!

I think that I'm discovering more people entering transition mode or about to take the transition plunge.

I'm almost natural. I have no shortage of inspiration and I visit their albums often.

I haven't relaxed yet especially since I blew my hair out and it feels/looks so much better. I might keep blowing it out weekly until the summer and make up my mind from there if I want to relax.

I was about to say, I was waiting on the updates/pictures.

I'm natural and NEVER going back to relaxers. I can say that with full confidence.

If I want straight hair I will start pressing it often. I do have a new goal in mind that is beyond being natural (3 years going on 4 in a couple of months). I want long hair. So I am going to start blowin my hair out more often. Fully focused on length and whatever it takes to get to APL. My first goal.

Kbragg there are still natural heads here...keep the faith!

OT: Minny your natural hair is gorgeous!:yep:

ITA, I was just in the process of running over to her fotki to tell her.

Kbragg, like someone else said, you can still remember when their hair was natural. There was a long haired natural who went by the name of naturalnyc on NP. She relaxed or texlaxed or something, but I still look at her natural hair pics some times. Well, I look at her relaxed hair pics, too, but you see what I mean.

Been natural since October 2003...don't see myself going back to a relaxer. When I got bored/frustrated, I just did a big chop (Sept 07). Last cut was Thanksgiving 2007 and since then I've been growing it back out. I love going through all the phases with my natural hair.

I'm still natural too. Yeah, look at the old photos of those who's hair you admire, but several of the ladies in this thread have some beautiful hair pics too.

Pinkskates...thanks for posting the side by side in your siggy so we can kill this "you can't use heat on your hair or it will won't go back curly" myth.

:giggle: I'm transitioning (53.5 wks ). I see a lot of heads as inspiration, don't lose faith!

OT: Finally Free, the siggy  Her hair is beautiful!!

I'm natural and still here. There are still inspiration-status ladies here who I look up to in regards to hair.

I think that this is just a natural process of hair boards, as older inspirations move on, new ones come in. The people who have BC'd will be the new inspirations within the next couple of years, and so on.

I'm natural and always will be!

I totally understand how you feel though. When I was relaxed, my idol (SouthernGirl) announced she was transitioning. I was hurt, HURT I say, and I made sure to let her know it. :lachen:  I eventually found several other inspirations and I was fine. You will be too! :yep:

I feel you Kbragg, but I'm glad for the reality check. There are still many natural heads on this board for us newly natural ladies (at least me at any rate) to get advice from.

I have to say, it's not a myth - it's just not a blanket statment.

So, it doesn't apply across the board to all heads, but the only way to prove it out on your own head is to use heat for years, and see if your curl comes back.

I suspect that's why most people give that warning - because it can happen, and as lovely as pinkskates hair is, it's no proof that everyone can use heat on a regular basis like she does and will still have the same curl. *shrug*

no, ur right its no myth at all

its happened to too many ladies

Let me qualify my statement...Using the correct protective measures, you can use heat and still have curly hair. That's all I'm saying. It's not written in stone.
