The other day I tried something new.

I cowashed my hair and then applied some more conditioner. Instead of rinsing it, I baggied it while very wet and went to sleep. In the morning, I rinsed it.

My hair didn't dry until about 9pm, but when it dried it was sooooo soft and felt great. I literally didn't even have to comb it... I just detangled with my fingers, which I normally can't do. Sadly, I've read that leaving your hair wet is actually a bad thing. I would think that moisture is GOOD, even if you have to force it to be there, lol. I would have no problem leaving my hair wet all weekend.

Just looking for opinions. :drunk:

I do this a lot and my hair loves it!

However there is such a thing as over conditioning (your hair becomes mushy) so make sure to not over do it :)

I'm actually doing it tonight (sleeping with conditioner). I don't do it often at all but yeah I don't think having wet hair 24/7 is a good thing. I wouldn't do it often.

I have been very concerned about this lately for my hair. I condition wash every single morning without fail and have been doing so since the end of August. Either my hair has become remarkably soft, or it's just plain mushy. :perplexed I honestly don't have a grasp of this whole moisture/protein balance thing, but can't protein combat over-conditioning? For example, I used Joico K-Pak Reconstructor, and when I take my hair out of the braids that will be put in later on today, I plan on deep conditioning, doing an Aphogee treatment, and then deep conditioning again.

Thanks for the tips. So maybe I should just include some protein in my regimen if I continue to do this? I do like the softness, but I wouldn't want my hair to end up breaking or becoming too elastic.

Yes :yep: the protein treatment should help. Are you using the aphogee 2 step or 2 minute?

Also if you are going to co wash daily then I would alternate between a protien con and moisturising con. That will help to balance out your hair.

yes I would include some protein somewhere in your regimen. Start off slow though as you don't want to over do the protein either.

Thanks Noir! :yep: I would use the Aphogee 2-step. Isn't that where you have the 2 minutes followed by a deep, moisturizing conditioner? I have never done it before.

Also, which protein conditioner do you recommend for future reference? I probably will not co-wash with braids. However, I will baggy every night, and I might just use a diluted conditioner to do so. :yep:

I love the aphogee 2 step I feel the effects immediately. The 2 min is the reconstrutor which is not a hard protein like 2 step. I like that one also.

I alternate between aubrey organic HSR (moisture) and GBP (protein). the GBP is an awesome protein con. Doesn't make your hair hard at all. I used to use egg in my conditioner and my hair was so healthy. I plan to go back to it.

Every brand has a protein (strengthening )line. The Joico K-pac line is great.

That helps a lot. Alternating between a moisturizing and a protein conditioner seems like a great idea. Thanks!!!

The middle of my head where the pony is stays wet. But this is a good thing for my natural hair. It is also good for me bacause I use my MT/Ovation a daily leave in. I do it maybe twice a month with conditioner over night.

Thank you Noir! :bighug: You're the best! I never would have though to use Aubrey Organic GBP as a protein conditioner. I'm almost looking forward to having my braids out just so I can use it. :yep: I am a true fan of the Joico K-Pak line. In fact, I just used the reconstructor last night. :yep: I love it!
