This is hard because I love them both, but I think Sedu has the edge with those awesome snag free plates.

I purchased my Sedu in December 2007. I love it. The plates are so nice and smooth, and they don't snag my hair.

I have the sedu and I love it. I have not tried the FHI yet! I have the GVP iron and the sedu. I think my next iron will be a CHI.

So I have narrowed it down to these two. Which one do you ladies like most?

How did you narrow down your choice? Everytime I think of investing in one, I hear of a better/new/improved line.

I was thinking of getting a FHI, based on comparisons with CHI, but you just threw a wrench in my plan with the SEDU.:lachen:

I have a Sedu and I am happy with it, but I have been following the thread on the FHI Ruway. The Runway sounds like its the Rolls Royce of flat irons, so now I want to try that one.

Sedu! I've had mine for over 3 years. I've dropped it on a few occasions, traveled all over with it, lent it out and its still working like it did on day one. The plates heat up quickly, it never snags on the hair, and its easy to clean. The only thing is that I wish I had gotten the 1" instead of the 1.5". There's a 2009 model that came out, if anybody happens to have it, please let me know what you think of it.

I like the Maxi glide..But I'm selling a FHI 1" for $80...check out pics on the product exchange board..PM me if interested...

Though I have only used mine twice since I don't straighten my hair often. Hands down the Sedu. I used my stepmothers Chi and the Sedu worked much better on my hair. It takes alot of work to straighten my hair and the Sedu conquered it with ease.

i think im gonna order the sedu. i have an FHI but i want another one too. i was gonna get the CHI but too many people complaining about it catching on fire or not working for a long period of time.
i love my flat iron (FHI) but i dont have another high end to compare it to and i need one with temp control.

Is the original Sedu better than the new Sedu model?

Also, I read the outside plates on the original Sedu gets hot. How does one go about protecting their hands when flat ironing?

When I do my hair, I don't find it necessary for me to touch the outside plates. So, it doesn't bother me.

The FHI Platform has temp control, and you can get it for ariund $100 on Ebay or Amazon.

FHI!!!! It doesn't snag hair AT ALL!! Your hair is sooo soft afterwards!

I've never used a Sedu, I do have an FHI Heat Platform and I just have to wholeheartedly concur with this!! I flatironed for the first time ever last week, and was really nervous about it all. But I ended up ooing and aaring over the softness!!! Love it!!

I have both the original and the new Sedu and I think the original is much MUCH better. There is a difference between the two on my hair. The mini Sedu gets super hot and comes with gloves because of that but not the original nor the Revolution Sedus. I haven't had a need to use the gloves with those.

texasqt, Would you be able to tell me the difference between the "Old" Sedu and the "New" Sedu, In terms of exact names or maybe a pic, I am looking to get the best one and from the sounds of it, the old seems to be the winner? TIA!

The old Sedu is the Sedu Pro Ionic Ceramic Toumaline Flat Iron. You can tell the difference by the rectanguler shape on the paddles (I guess that's what they are called).

The new Sedu is the Sedu Revolution Toumaline Ionic Styling Flat Iron

I have both currently and I think they do just about the same thing. Both get to 410 degrees, but because of my hair texture, neither irons get my hair bone straight. I can say the Sedu makes it shinier though.
