you took it personal and that is your fault. . . do i think natural hair looks like pubes? of course not. . .we already know that I was heavily contemplating natural. . . this goes along with the heavy consensus even in OUR community that natural hair is 'nappy' or 'bad'. if I didn't like natural hair. . . it would make little sense for me to be a member of this board.

Flag on the play... off sides... traveling. :stop: So you're saying that if you say something that is in poor taste and/or offensive that it's our fault if we have an issue with the statement that YOU made? Am I understanding correctly? Seems a bit "" to me

someone lock this please, it's getting feisty in here.

Re: Relaxed ladies:If relaxers werent for sale anymore and hotcombs were not availabl

I just find it odd when people say that the hair that grows out of their head doesn't or wouldn't "suit" them. Especially if they haven't even experienced it since they were 5.

Also, some of the posters implied (or stated outright) that if there were no heat appliances or relaxers then they'd wear wigs/weaves/braids in order to avoid having to "face" their natural hair. That's weird to me.

I thought those responses were interesting. And, they literally made me shake my head.

Just because someone says that their natural hair doesn't suit them, doesn't mean they hate it.

For some women who have a very active lifestyle, their natural hair is too much work. It doesn't mean they hate it but having relaxed hair lets them have more versatilty. The converse is also true.

My mother had long relaxed hair for a long time. She decided though that it was too much work keeping up with conditioning and styling so in college in 1971, she cut it off and rocked a fro. She has had one ever since. She doesn't like dealing and messing with hair thus her choice to keep it short and natural. My sister just recently re relaxed her hair after being natural because no matter what she was doing, it was just coming out. It wouldn't hold moisture at all and trust me we tried everything. It knotted up all of the time with no avail. She wants to be natural but she wants her hair to retain length. For her, that process is easier being relaxed so that is what she did. Its no different than a relaxed head saying that their hair won't stop breaking so they went natural. Its about what is best for you for your long term hair goals.

Re: Relaxed ladies:If relaxers werent for sale anymore and hotcombs were not availabl

Why does it matter how long I've been on this board? I've had my hair all my life so it really doesn't matter how long i've been on here. I'm assuming ignant means ignorant. A good grade of hair is exactly what it says. Some people have nicer hair than others. For example alot of biracial people have a better grade of hair than people that aren't biracial. It doesn't take a genius to know when someone has a better grade of hair than yours.

I call a big nappy fro one that you can break a comb trying to comb through it. I doubt if I went natural I would have that problem. Naturally some people's hair is more manageable than others with or without hair products. Not saying that my hair is better than anybody else's on here.

Definition of ignorant- uneducated in general; lacking knowledge or sophistication
New to LHCF or not I am very well educated.

Are you kidding? Of course we know that natural hair is considered by many as ugly. That doesn't mean we need to constantly read about it on this board. Your joke was ignorant and in poor taste. Period, point blank. You can try to justify it or turn it around on me all you want, but your words are there in black and white.

Re: Relaxed ladies:If relaxers werent for sale anymore and hotcombs were not availabl

Im not gonna argue my point anymore. You have your opinion I have mine. You might not use the word grade but I do. People are obviously quite sensitive about their hair. This is not serious enough for me to keep talking about. You love your hair and I'll love mine.

People don't have a problem with you using the word 'grade' even tho on hair boards generally you will see people refer to hair types as 1 (straight), 2 (wavy) 3 (curly), & 4 (kinky) and all the subcategories such as 2a, 2b etc.

The problem people have is the way you use the word "better" or "good" in front of the word, "grade". You are not the only one in the world to use this terminology BUT on hair boards we respect all the types of hair there are and do not refer to "better" or "good" hair. That's why it was so obvious you have not been on hair boards for very long, becuz no one uses that type of offensive terminology & yes, it is offensive even tho some may prefer one type of hair over another. NO ONE's hair is ugly. All hair has the potential to be beautiful. When comparing a healthy head of kinky hair with a damaged head of say, wavy hair, it is much more respectful to describe the kinky hair as beautiful & healthy, and the wavy hair as damaged. You can talk in terms of straightness & say that the wavy hair person has straighter hair than the kinky hair person, but to describe it as better is very insulting to our hair board members whose goal is for everyone to take pride in their hair no MATTER THE GRADE.

It is not a matter of sensitivity as you state, but a matter of respect. And yes you can love your hair all you want, and that's the point: We all here to have healthy hair ( doesn't matter the type, processed or non-processed, colored or not) we can love. Welcome to LHCF:cool:

constantly read about it huh? fault me for saying it once, not people saying it multiple times. . . i only control what I say, not what you think.

It's not just you who talks sideways about natural hair on this board, it's just that you didn't seem to have a filter on your ignorant comment.
