What are you going to do different in 2009 to your hair

I am thinking about several things/possibly too many things:

cutting hair or staying long

coloring hair with highlights

going natural or staying relaxed

??? decisions/decisions ???

Im going to:
stop blowdrying my roots:wallbash:
cowash more often:yep:

I gotta' make a serious effort to do the above if I want to reach full MBL by the end of 09':yep:

I'm gonna see what I can do with half wigs. Keep my hair braided up underneath with only a small portion left out to blend. I'm gonna give myself one month to see how I like it

For 2009
Try the C&G Technique (I don't really care for braids) again
Relax 3 times in the whole year
Not buy too many products

Bandwagons don't sway me so I'm good on that end :)

Full head sew ins..... I'm really going to give my hair a rest. just deep condition and protein treatments in between

Give up buying expensive hair products- yes I am giving up my Joico

:perplexed and go ayurvedic which is a much cheaper option for me and so far so

good.

Also I'm giving up shampoo and going to use the aritha or shikakai bars

instead. The only time I plan to use shampoo is when I relax, need to

clarify or for some other unforseen emergency & I'm also going to limit

washing my hair to 2 times a week.

Hi Kiya!

Yeah I know! When Victor told me this I thought he was crazy!:perplexed He said deep conditioning treatments offered at salons are a waste of money because the hair only absorbs so much and that the water from washing is sufficient if sealed properly.I posted his emails to me(in the latest Sabino thread) about water being the only moisture we need(and anything else just mildly penetrates while the rest just sits there) and sealing it with MB in the latest Sabino thread. He did say that I could leave a little of my regular conditioner in for a little "feel good" as he calls it but the water is key. Sabino is suppose to lock the essential moisture in and any additional out until I shampoo again so there's no need for daily application of anything.

The member luckiestdestiny said this method is working for her she is reataining length and her hair is very moisturized. This could possibly be a set back for me if it doesn't work but I figured I'd try. I wouldn't really call this a bandwagon though, in fact it's the complete opposite.:lachen: I would definitely save money because he said get rid of all my products get a good shampoo, conditioner and Moisture Block. That's all I need.

I was relaxed but am transitioning to natural. I have thick course and dry 4b hair. I did not BC so I am dealing with two textures(3 inches of new growth). I have tried his method for a week and so far so good my hair does not feel dry and brittle and my scalp is moisturized from my natural sebum. I flat ironed it following his method on Saturday and have not added anything to my hair since.

I know that 4B is the most fragile hair having the least amount of cuticle layers than any other hair type(so I hear) so I figure I can't go wrong with giving myself an extra layer of protection with MB. I just keep thinking it shouldn't be this hard for black women to maintain healthy hair.
Whoa! I do a lot of stuff to my hair more than just leave in MB. I wash, condition, dc, and then leave in a little moisturizing conditioner, some lacio lacio (which is a leave in moisturizing conditioner) on top of that, and sometimes I put in some coconut oil (tiny bit) and then seal with MB. I also do deep conditioning, etc, because my hair needs moisture. I definitely agree that MB works, but it's in addition to the other stuff that I do. I actually talked to them and emailed them too, but some things I'm just set in my ways about doing. I of course don't use petroleum products and stuff, but I do use other stuff too! However I do love moisture block and I will say it is a staple of mine! My staples so far: Moisture Block, Lacio Lacio, and Shescentit's avocado moisturizer! And yes, you are correct I am maintaining my length and of course, my hair is growing too.

Correction: Luckiestdestiny uses a modified version of this. Sorry about that. I do follow your reviews on MB and rereading I see you do more. I think for me I'm so willing to cut it down to three products because I am testing this method out on mostly relaxed ends that I need to chop off anyway but I'm being stubborn. If it were on a head full of natural healthy hair I would be less inclined.

Again please pardon my lack of information concerning your regimen

I plan to start using Ayurvedic products to shampoo my hair, tea/coffee rinses with caffeine, and hopefully more stretching with my relaxers.

I'm going to do longer stretches. Right now I stretch anywhere from 11-13 weeks. In 09 I want to go a minimum of 16 weeks each stretch. Urm, I also need to get a hooded dryer for next year. I've been doing DC's with my blow dryer for 14 months (ie. since I started by hair journey). I'm also thinking about re-introducing baggying since it really helped me retain length when I was doing it.

Hmm lets see...Im going to use heat every 2 weeks from now until the summer. lets see how that turns out :look: . WNG's are now only for summer. Tired of it.

I have my eye on reaching MBL.
I will go back to baggying, deep-conditioning, steaming, and hot oil treatments.
Basically, I will go back to babying it for 2009.

I dont plan to change much. I want to get rollersetting down and wear more rollersets. Other than that, I plan to keep everything the same and grow my hair out.

I would LOVE to learn how to do awesome roller-sets. (I need to do some research and start practicing!) and once I get those down, do roller-sets instead of using direct heat for the whole year.

I also plan on bunning most, of the year also. I've only been bunning for about a month or so now, but I've alread seen a great improvement in my ends and the thickness of my hair!

I also plan to stop buying so many products online and use up what I already have...:look:

Oh! and my ultimate plan is to go 100% natural AND reach APL (maybe even BSL by December???) by the end of the year!

I am going to stick with ayurvedic shampoos and deep conditioners
I will use dominican conditioners, and use them for leave ins
Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize

Well I hope to continue my healthy hair practices that I learned from LHCF. My major goal is to be able to bring my hair out of hiding and wear it out for the summer, hopefully I will be full APL or a little past APL.

Definitely less manipulation and/or abuse, that will make a world of difference I think. Moisture is key also. Everything else should fall into place.

Already trying my hand at Ayurvedic powders and oils....Gonna also stretch relaxers more and also start co-washing.

I don't think I want to change anything for next year... I just need to stick with my regimen and stop slacking like I've been doing this year because it works for me.

-Relaxing half of my hair in one day, and relaxing the other half three days later.
-Start keeping a hair journal/blog so people can learn from my mistakes.

I am going to stop stretching my relaxers and start getting touch ups every three to four months.

I am going to dye my hair black.

I am going to start wearing my hair down.

I want to start going to a natural hair stylist so I can begin to try some intricate hairstyles. I'm too lazy to do it, so I am going to pay someone to do it.

changing products or regimens or what?

I'm going to go strictly Ayurvedic.

I am going to try this as well. Maybe not strictly, but I will do this strongly for atleast 6 months and see how that goes. Starting in hmm, March.
