Naturals: How Do U Know If It's New Growth?

For my hair, I know its new growth because I always feel it in my crown 1st. If it was sweated out it would be my entire head, not just a few crinkly patches here and there. Its been 2 weeks since I got my hair straightened so I would expect at least .25'' since then. I get the avg and then some.

No sure about the shortest layer but the longest section of your hair looks to be bra strap length.

And yeah, it can be hard to estimate your true length as a natural.

I've been using Mega Tek since September, and I honestly don't know if it's grown much. If you're relaxed or color your hair, then it should be easy to see if it has grown, but what if you're natural and wear your hair straight most of the time? How do you know whether it's new growth or just sweated out? Even if you wear your hair natural most of the time. The length checks don't really work for me; my arms don't even reach that far as you can see. Plus, my hair is at different lengths pretty much everywhere. Can somebody tell me what they think my real length is? Do you consider the shortest length to be actual length?

1. I don't really know how to tell if my hair at the root is new growth or just regular coilyness. I think it's even more difficult because I don't straighten my hair, when I used to I could tell the difference.

2. I have the same problems with length checking because my arms don't reach very far. And, I don't straighten. I'm pretty much going by where by braids/twists fall.

3. It looks like the part of your hair you pulled down is just about BSL. It appears as if you are full APL (most or all of your hair is past APL) and on your way to BSL very soon.

4. I don't use my shortest hair as my length. Basically, if most of my braids reach a certain point then I consider myself that length. Like right now I say I'm neck length because all my hair is at least there, but my nape is actually shoulder length.
