I got an appointment for next week so I can pick her brain even more

I don't think she is going to drop any mind blowing new knowledge to me but I do think it is interesting that she tries to get her clients to stop relaxing. Everyone that I have met that goes to her has beautiful hair and they wear it straight 90% of the time. I thought they were relaxed for the longest.

Cool! I'm looking forward to seeing what she has to say! :yep:

No she is here in NC at a JCPennys salon.

One of my classmates goes to her I really thought she had relaxed hair. My friend has started going to her too for the past 3 months.
Really? Are you by chance in the TRIangle area of NC. Cuz my sis goes to someone at a jcpennys salon who is doing her hair and is helping her grow it bsl length without relaxing it and wearing weaves?

No, I am in greensboro. That is interesting though. Actually, the next time you talk to your sis, ask her for her name. My sister is in that area and doesn't have a stylist.

Lucky you, Gym. I was mulling around the idea of going to Khamit Kinks or something of the sort but I'm too afraid they'd convince me to big chop.:nono::nono:

Yeah, I am not Bcing anything right now :nono: I haven't really made up my mind but I am going to try to stretch until my b-day, May 22nd. That way I can get a better feel as to what is going on and go from there.

Even though I'm already natural, I'd be interested to hear what she says. I failed at my first transition attempt b/c I didn't have a plan and didn't know what I wanted to do with my hair. I found LHCF near the beginning of my second attempt, and the rest is history. ;)

Hi newbie here! (Long time lurker:grin:)

I find this fascinating that a lot of her clients wear their hair straight 90% of the time and it's healthy. I have noticed a lot of people will shun heat but embrace relaxers:perplexed I may be biased because I love my flat iron-but only with the proper heat protectant.

I am transitioning to natural without a BC and I love the way I look with straight hair. Relaxers broke my hair and messed my scalp up(or should I say the improper use of them by my former stylist). I am curious to hear about the products she uses and her technique.

My plan is to stay natural with heat straightened hair and I believe heat used regularly and properly won't damage hair. This woman may prove that.

I too am interested in finding out what she has to say. For the past few 2 weeks, transitioning has been a struggle for me:wallbash:. I really need some good advice so that relaxer box stays on the BSS's shelf and not on mine:perplexed. Looking forward to your post.

Good luck with your appointment.

It is nice to hear that stylists are progressing in this area. When I first transitioned I had such a hard time finding a supportive stylist.

That is what got me too. I asked her about that and she said that her clients fall in one of two areas, people that want to wear their hair curly sometimes or people that want to wear their hair straight nearly all of the time. She said depending on what you want your final result to be, her technique changes.

I then asked of course then why don't you just keep relaxing those ladies instead. She replied that many of them have fine hair just lots of it (which is me so my ears totally perked up) so even with the regular heat use, they find that their hair is thicker and stronger than when it was relaxed. She said that she still does things to protect the hair from heat as usual but they still like it better now. I have seen her work up close and personal on a classmate. She has BSL bleached hair and it is beautiful. I asked her how much her hair curls back up when she washes and she said that on a scale of one to ten, it goes back to about a 4. She said that she doesn't care because she wants her hair straight but she said that it doesn't break as much and is much thicker than before.

I think its great too. Regardless of the way you want to wear your hair, I think is cool that more and more people are getting support with natural hair. Even though I know naturals in my day to day life and on this board, there are still tons of stylists that will throw some lye in your head ever 4 weeks and people that still want people to do it.

co-signing. I went to a stylist once that worked in JCPenny and she was AWESOME! Wouldn't you know that after my first appointment this particular mall closed down and I have no idea where she went:wallbash::wallbash:.
