Does anyone use a butter as a moisturizer?

Not to seal, but to moisturize? I'm talking about a butter where there is not any water or glycerin in the ingredients. I'm thinking of doing this and would like some feedback.

I used to use shea butter a few years ago, and it worked great on my ends..ima buy some more this year..i was mostly in buns back then too...

I currently use raw unrefined shea butter mixed w/coconut oil using a hand mixer to make some whipped shea butter.

I've used shea butter. It was okay. It was grainy so I didn't really care for it. Currently, I'm using Murumuru butter. Next I want to try Avocado butter.

I use shea butter to moisturize my ends. I apply a thin amount to the rest of my hair, but I like to use a lot toward my ends. Makes them feel really moisturized.

I am using a variety of butters this fall/winter. I have pistachio butter/shea butter/jojoba butter/olive butter.

All are very moisturizing. I use them on my scalp and my ends.

I use Hempseed and I love it.
My hair isn't dry so that's how it works I suppose...
I do the occasional strand test to see how far i can stretch before the strand snaps.
It works wonderful for me and it also keeps my hair in place; it is a little sticky.

I've been using Hairveda's green tea butter.
It moisturizes and it's pretty light.

On my ends the only thing that really moisturize them is Hairveda's VF, Almond Glaze and Ghee (this is the truth)! I've tried Shea butter but, it didnt' do anything special...Nourish & Shine do a good moisturizing job on my hair also.

It does have water and alove vera juice in it as well as natural butters, it's actually a body cream, but this leaves my hair soooo moisturized. It really is the perfect balanced moisturizer.

Shea butter makes my daughters hair so soft. I think if the hair is moisturized it should feel soft and moisturized then you will know..if that even makes sense or helps.

the nourish and shine seemed to moisturize my hair but it didn't moisturize my mom's that well... i'm that when you deep condition often, you don't need a strong moisturizer like that.

I've been using Elasta QP Mango butter (if that counts ) lately and I it! It is very moisturizing, leaving my hair soft and non-greasy. Doesn't weigh my hair down either.

I use Jane Carter's nourish and shine on my DD's hair as a moisturizer. She is natural and it is the only thing that I have found that does not cause her to revert when she is wearing a straight style. Sometimes I use it on my relaxed hair as well. It makes your hair feel so soft.

Been using the Ghee Butter from StinaStina for months now. Great moisture. The little popcorn smell is easily overcome but whatever i seal with.

This is exactly what I use and it's fabulous!!! Love my whipped cocoshea!

I use Seyani hair butter and Jane Carter Nourish & Shine and they work GREAT! I prefer the Seyani hair butter instead though. Leaves my hair ultra soft and mega moisturized. Also softens my new growth to the T.

The murumuru is okay. I don't like that it stays rock hard. I'm pretty much done with the container. I've mixed what's left with some JBCO and that keeps it soft. Once it's done I'm going to get the avocado butter. So many people have raved about it and everything I read about it says it's soft and creamy. That's what I'm looking for.

I thought something was wrongwith mine and was going to send it back! I couldn't get nothing out of it.. what do you do to use it.. seems like I would have to chip it off and warm it up..but that might involve wasting some!!!
