I went on BC for about 5 months and during that time I lost a LOT of hair. I got off and finally my hair is recovering. What I have noticed is that my hair growing out totally different in the top, much straighter. Has anyone else noticed this?

OMG.... Yes, many women that I know went through pregnancy tell me that they had a change in hair texture during and after pregnancy - (particularly caucasian friends - theirs was a more noticable change)... but hormonal changes are notorious for doing this...

Now that you mention it, that could be why I have experienced the different hair textures (not from pregnancy, but the BC)...All along, I thought it was the relaxer forcing the hair bulb to conform, but wasn't quite sure.

Your idea makes alot of sense!

I hear that L'oreal is working on a hormone pill to straighten hair internally. Who knows. I just noticed that I have a lot of new growth, but I can't feel it in the front, but I can see it because of the color change. My hair usually grows straight up and extremely kinky. I wondered if it might have been the differences in the androgens.

I have been on (and sometimes off) the pill for like 3 years. Never noticed any change in texture or growth rate or anything hair and skin related, but a lot of other people say so.

Guess it's one of those things that doesn't happen to everyone.

Some people get breakage and lose hair from BC. I think it's what caused my hair to break off when I was relaxed.

My texture also changed when I was a teenager due to hormones. Two of my cousins hair also changed when they hit puberty bc of hormones.

Never noticed a change in texture from BC. My hair didn't react well to relaxers when I was on Depo, though.

That seems to be a hormonal side effect and you should consult your doctor. S/he might have to switch you to another.
