and it leaves your hair straight or fairly straight? I've used setting 5, and my hair turned out looking like a sleeker version of an afro. I'm considering pumping the temperature up the next time I use it.

I used setting 3 and it didn't get very straight. I'm scared to go higher though. :look: My hair is very fine in some sections.

How many passes do you use on setting 5?

I'm a fine 4a. Protected by my Sabino I cranked it up to 8. It was a bit scary but, it was straight and my coils returned in full force when I washed. The back was a little puffy but, that was on me rather than the iron.

It stayed straight for about a week, maintaining was a pain in the --- though. I set it every night to keep some kind of curl. I haven't had much success with pin curls.

Level 5. Two passes per section.

Make sure you are using the Maxi correctly. You start half way down the section, pres the steam burst and glide to the ends. THEN you start at the root and just glide it down to the ends, no steam.

Never past setting one. I do one pass, two at the most. I always pre-stretch my hair before straightening so it takes less heat to straighten it.

I've never used the steam part.
