Warnings to the newly long

1. Detangle and moisturize in sections.

2. Be careful when getting up out of a chair or sitting and moving your head forward. Often times I'll be leaning back on my hair and have darn near got whip lash or pulled some hair out lol.

3. Sticky lip gloss, wind, and having your hair down do NOT mix. Neither does having all the windows down in the car while going 70 miles an hour on the freeway . . . your hair WILL temporarily blind you lol.
AGREE with this whole post :lachen:

Two Things:

1) The longer your hair gets, the longer the shed hair is. Don't freak out if it looks like you have larger balls of hair during a comb-out. Check to see if it's just a bunch of longer strands.

2) You will find errant hairs in the cracks of things that long hair ain't supposed to be.
:)

This is the realest thing I've ever read on LHCF!!! I was soooo tempted to make a post about this the first couple of times it happened but I was like "Nah...Nah" It's so gross! :lachen: :lachen: :lachen:

I'm so glad that people mentioned the purse snatching the hair issue. People on the train look at me funny when I get my hair snagged and I make that "dang, not again" face.

omigosh!!! You have read My mind!!! I am so freaked Out about the normal Shedding And yup #2 Is true. Lol!!!!!!

In addition to the great tips already given, I have a few to add:

1) While in the car, be careful when reaching over your shoulder to grab the seatbelt. A few times, I have grabbed a chunk of hair, as well.:spinning:

2) When combing the hair, be sure that the comb has been brought all the way to the ends, before pulling the comb away. I have gotten combs tangled in my hair this way.:ohwell:

3) The longer my hair gets, the more there is to tangle. Let's just say that my patience is really tested during my weekly detangling sessions.

Don't stick your head in the freezer looking around for stuff with a wet head :look: Unless of course, you are ok with hair being stuck the the fridge, or so i've heard

Just because your hair got longer and you want to show it off doesn't mean it's suddenly developed super-human strength and can survive being worn down all the time, flat ironed every day, or tossed about in the wind. It's just as vunerable as before. Don't slack off b/c you think you've met your goal b/c you will lose your progress. :nono:

This is excellent advice and needs to be repeated.

I'm probably more paranoid now then when my hair was shorter.

Great topic!

I would say if the gel, shampoo, conditioner, etc you use just doesn't work the same anymore just realize it might be because you need to find a new product. It seems like the longer my natural hair gets, the more I have to change my regimine or products.

The person that posted don't get scared when you see longer strands of hair in the shower, that is me right now LOL I freak out sometimes when I see that.

I always stare at the ends of my hair when I get bored or when I should be studying (I'm talking strand by strand ladies!)
Now that my hair is longer I spend much more time wasting time because I have a whole new section to observe, THE BACK.

Take extreme caution when throwing a bag or straps over your shoulder. You could get whiplash or tear out a chunk.

When washing in the kitchen sink make sure the sink and the disposal is absolutely clean.

My daughter's unexpected but newly relaxed new length was down in the disposal while I was rinsing it. When I pulled it out....yuck...well just make sure it's clean before washing in the kitchen sink.

I was grinning from ear to ear when I went to get a mammogram and the tech had to pull my hair back... so she could put all of "me" under the plate of pain... that's when all the grinning came to a halt.:nono:

You guys should get yourself a Sink Mat, A sink mat is a medium size mat with little holes in it. it keeps your hair from going down the drain, That's what I use for myself when I don't feel like washing in the shower and use it for DD also.

Me too! You're not alone, girlfriend! I am determined to stay on top of things and maintain my progress!
