I'm too embarrassed to post the pics on here:nono: but they're in my fotki. I didn't realize the damage was so bad until I took my braids down. I'm embarrassed to go out of the house right now and I really need to get my hair back. I was thinking of trying the Bee Mine product and keeping it simple with my hair. Wash, DC 3x's a week, moisturize with s-curl and seal with coconut oil. Has anyone ever had damage this extensive and how long did it take you to recover? Also what styles could I do? Outside of a wig I don't know what to do. I was thinking of a loose silk scarf to cover the bald patches. I have gotten more length an d thickness on other parts of my hair, but as you can see the perimeter is straight jacked! HELP!:wallbash:

The thinning could be due to having the baby and/or tight braids.

No stress on the hairline going forward is what I would recommend so that means no braids of any kind. Start massaging those areas a few times a day w/ oils. I don't think you should do wigs because that area would still be rubbed. If you can get a way with wearing scarves to cover that area up while out I would do that. Are you working right now?

I feel your pain. Luckily for you it is getting cold outside now so you could try hats and scarves. Even scraves only wrapped around your head like nicole ritchie wears on her "hippie" days. I experienced this once with a horrible set of box braids. all my edges were out ot lunch....for 2 months. Just baby them, apply creams, and wear a smile everywhere you go....trust me, you will be fine. Behind all that cheesing, nobody will notice your hair!!!!:grin::grin::grin:

I'm going through the same thing as you. My edges are jacked up! I spoke with my dermatologist about it. He prescribed a shampoo and ointment to try to help it grow back. I will see how that goes.

Thankfully I work at home, so I only have to go out in public once in a while. I do have a seminar to go to next week so I'll definitely be scarfing it next weekend lol.

Honey I feel ur pain. when I went natural my edges were so thin that I relaxed 7/08 because I was self contious. What has helped ,me was to keep my hair moisturized and also to not put anything such as braids on my edges. U can see my fotki to see what I mean. I did use mtg that has helped me tremendously. The spot that I had that were bare from weaves and braids have grown back.

Regi:
MTG 3x wk (I put mine on my counter top and dip my finger and rub my scalp. I use only on wash days)
Wash 3x wkly and dc each time
I do moisturize with eqp mango butter and essential oils ( I use Eden Gardens essential oil spray. after the bottle is gone I am going to just use my own mix)
Massage nightly
Satin scarf every night
2min reconstructor (Aphogee 2x month)

I will be praying for u good luck and happy growing.

More than likely it is postpartum hair loss. Keep your edges moisturized, wash your hair consistently, and TAKE your prenatals daily.

I can not stress that enough. Your are suppose to take your prenatals daily for up to 2 years after having your baby. Your baby has taken all the good nutrients out of your body and you have to replace them and QUICKLY.

Good luck!

I feel your pain. You can do a search for Bee-Mine Products I want to try those products for my hair line. I feel that it can grow back with TLC!

(((((HUGS))))))

Congratulations on your baby and losing all that weight! He's a cutie pie!!!

I would have to agree with fabulousity, stay away from braids for now. Some women experience shedding after they have a baby and I'm sure the braids didn't help. I've heard good things about Bee Mine, never tried it myself though. I think Castor Oil in that area would be a good idea as well.

I'm so sorry that happened to you.

I TRYED EVERY THING BUT AND IT CAME BACK A LITTLE . BUT I JUST STARTED TO USE HYDRATHERMA DAILY MOISTURIZING GROWTH LOTION I KNOW IT STAYS VERY MOIS.AND I THINK THAT WHAT IS HELPING IT GROW I CAN SEE IT COMEING BACK FASTER . I DONT USE ANY GROWTH AIDES ON MY TEMPLES ANY MORE CAUSE NONE SEEM TO WORK BUT THIS SEEM TO KEEP IT MOIS SO IT CAN GROW. I ALSO USE HER FOLLICLE INVIGORATOR. I USE THEM BOTH TOGETHER.BRAIDS DID A JOB ON MY TEMPLES IT WAS TWO YEARS AGO.AND THEY JUST STARTED TO GROW BACK RIGHT JUST HANG IN THERE AND DONT WORRY SO MUCH ABOUT THEM CASTOR OIL HELP BUT IT WOULD NOT STAY MOIS AND MYS NEED TO STAY MOIS ALL THE TIME .

Hello,
It appears that your braids were braided too tight or that the woman put to much braid hair on a little thin oiece of your own hair. I wore braids for over 10 years and have all of my edges, but some of my friends had this problem with braids. I asked the woman who braided my hair about people losing their edges such as my friends who got their hair braided by someone else and she told me about the too much hair on the braid. I have two bald spots in the back of my head form not eating protein since I am a vegetarian and also stress that are now growing back. You can wear your head wrapped up which I do here and there when I am lazy or you can go and get you a cute wig. I usually do wash and go's and have tend to want to cut my hair short, but since it is growing good, cutting is not an option, girl I put on my short wig and go. People think it is my hair. Your hair will grow back it will just take some time.

:bighug:

Sorry that this has happen when I was in this position I use MN with Coconut Oil and Sunsilk Moisturizer and my edges came back quickly

The exact same thing happened to me after I had my baby. My edges and sideburns came completely out on the right side of my head. I did not do anything special, except for keeping my hair moisturized and leaving that area alone. After he turned around nine months it started to grow back, and now that he is one, I have a lot of fuzz in that area and my sideburns have grown back completely. So, try not to panic, those edges will grow back.....

Girl I feel for you, I really do. I went through the exact same thing in May, when my baby was about 4 1/2 months. See my fotki and I put what I did and I took pictures to show that it filled in. Also I agree with the silk scarves around the perimeter. They were my best friend during that time. It will get better with good nutrition and try not to stress about it.

 I feel your pain! Had this happen about a year and a half ago and my edges are still fragile, get a half weave and some silk/ satin bandannas, I co-washed 2-3 times a week massaging with EVOO/sulphur mix/ MT (either one would work) you just need to be consistent. It'll grow back before you know it!

I agree with this poster--I see you have a little one there. About nine months after I had my each three of my children my hairline thinned to almost bald. It did come back in time, though. I know it's not much solace, but I can bet this isn't permanent.

I'll tell you what my dermatologist told me: Baldness is when there is completely smooth skin with no hair. You still have hair [around the perimeter] so that is a good sign because that means that your hair follicles are still willing to grow hair. --> That nugget of info cost me 40 bucks, but you seem like good people so I won't charge you anything for that. lol

I went to Ulta several months ago in pursuit of some nioxin (or anything else) to grow back what I thought was a receeding hairline. A sales person (who was also a hairstylist) came and asked me if I needed help and I told him my concerns. After looking at my hair line he said that the best thing to do is to avoid pulling the hair back in any way and just wearing the hair loose around the edges. He also suggested avoiding the use of any chemicals near the troubled areas. I have done my best to follow his advice and my temples are starting to look a little more bushy now.

I also went through a period of alopecia starting in July. After I started using beemine serum and taking gueye vitamins this month, I noticed for the first time that I have a significant amount of growth. Now the regrowth may have just come from the fact that the alopecia is clearing up on its own, or it may be due to the use of other growth aids over these few months, but it does appear that beemine and the vitamins really jump started the progress. Therefore, I would suggest you attack the problem internally by making sure you are taking a good multivitamin and externally by reducing tension around your hairline, allowing your hairline to breathe and using growth aids that have worked for YOU in the past.

eta: I just ordered some more beemine today and they are having a buy two get one free sale. Yay sales! *disclaimer* I don't own the site, nor do I receive any incentive whatsoever for encouraging others to buy this product. I just enjoy sharing a good sale when I come across one.

I see a little baby in your siggy. Did you just have a baby? The reason why I ask is that I read some responses from Sistaslick on the connection of hair loss and childbirth. Apparently after one has a baby the woman's hormone levels change and the hair falls out not because you did or didn't have good hair care. It is just hormonal and some ladies just go through it. I would research her articles or contact her directly. Good luck!
