I BC-ed at almost 10 months and have pics in my fotki. Check out "Month 1" of my Natural folder.

P.S. You have be signed in to view the album.

Your TA is cuuuuuuute. I'm likin those earrings too. :yep:

Have you tried any specific styles with it, or do you find that it is too short?

Not yet...I'm too lazy to do anything else but a Wash n Go. But My hair is at about 5 inches now so I can do braid and twist outs and also a puff but I like the all out fro better

I chopped after 10 months ... but I got a really short cut. Pics are in my fotki.

So you had your hair cut into a style down the the natural growth and then flat ironed?

I've though about doing that...just worried about how it will look un-straightened.. I would get something like this:

So I need a fotki account to view the photos?

Yep. I'll just post a pic. HTH!

Hmm..the first time I BC'd (almost 5 yrs ago) I don't remember how long I transitioned for. I didn't even do it on purpose - I just never got a touch up.

I went into the salon and told her to cut out all the relaxer, and had her braid my hair into box braids. I wore the same braids for about 2 years - just redoing them one by one. So I've never dealt with my hair OUT really. I'm thinking about doing the same thing again, but it makes me look very young and cutesy....

Keep the pictures coming ladies! :yep:

your hair is gorgeous. Please buy a wig and avoid the cut.

Thank you 'But I'm transitioning so I'd eventually have to cut anyway...right? I originally wanted to wait till next summer, but I'm also tempted to try to get to know my hair before it's so long that it's overwhelming..

so I wanted to see what I might be workin with if I chopped now. :yep:

Soliel are you getting the itch right now? If you decide to chop think about it twice because once you cut you can't cut back. But seriously either way it will look pretty!

I have one at home that I will post tonite - but let me tell you, it ain't nothing to play with.

I'll be 31 weeks post this friday! :yahoo: So, I just made the 7 month mark. I can't wait until I reach one year. I'm not going to BC, I just want to see my hair at that mark. :yep:

ETA: Shoot, these pics just might inspire me to BC sooner than the 2-year mark I'm reaching for.

How many weeks post are you now, Geechy?

here are two different pics of my hair when i bced. my hair texture is erratic. i was 9.5 months

it settled(more or less) into this a few weeks later

length shots

it was too much of a change for me and i ended up texturizing. now im transitioning again

Hang in their Geechy! Two years is a looooong time though -- you're braver than me! That would be Jan of 2010 for me....I think I'll be too tired of trying to keep my natural hair from strangling the relaxed ends.

Wow ..I was saying the first time I tried to transitionned to my first BC..boy oh boy ...if I had to do it again I would put that temptation aside ..WHY ? because its too overwhelming emotionally especially when the people around you are not supportive plus when you never dealt with a situation like that. IMHO ...avoid the cut ...transition the loooooooongest you can. Once you have a good lenght to do styles that YOU are comfortable with go ahead and chop . I bc 3 times in my life if not more and its a looooooooooot of work and frustration because you never get use to it when your in that in between stage. If you reached 9 months and youre VERY COMFORTABLE...go ahead if not hold on. Flat ironing was one of my thought when I did my BC to just end up after a good year with heat damage (flat-ironing was too time consuming for me as well)...but that varies from one person to another .

Like I said think about it TWICE.

Last time I BC'd everyone around me was very supportive -- they'd actually preferred my natural hair so they were happy to see me go back...I understand what you mean though.

I agree that you should think twice about it. I had/have people who are very supportive and also people who think I'm crazy for BC'ing, in fact, my mother didnt speak to me for a week after I BC'd. So, if you are the type of person who is affected by what people think then, yes think twice about it. When I made the decision to BC it was for me and me alone so, when other people give their opinion that's all it is to me; their opinion. But I'm happy with my choice so thats what make this easy for me...Not to mention the fact that my hair is healthier than it has been in years and I dont mean to get all deep but you get a new sense of self when you do it, (or at least I did and some of my friends have said they feel this way as well) because you get to see yourself exactly how God intended you to be..your true self. It has helped to boost my self-confidence not lessen it but everyone is different. So, yes to end my long-winded opinion, think about it:yep:. HTH
