She's been natural a few years now and I thought it would be cool for me to try to do something to it well let's just say I sent her home with a wet head :lachen:I gotta commend you natural folks with her hair type...the shrinkage and tangling was crazy!

Here's the texture shots

4a with dense AND fine hair...dont know if that makes sense but her strands look fine with a lot of them :)

Looks like 4a at the roots, then it gradually becomes 4b. Hmmm... my niece's hair is just like this. Funny thing though: her hair is denser, but it is soooo easy to detangle while my 4a hair is NOT! Your friend had beautiful hair :yep:

:lachen: at the last pic.

I know man it didn't work out I said skip it lol

Same here it was not easy at all even with extra virgin coconut oil and deep conditioning with redken smooth down oh mannnnnnnnnnnnnnn I was like is this what I have to look forward to lol she was like pretty much :lachen:

I don't see any 4b in there. That looks exactly like my daughters hair, lol. I think once it dries, it tends to look 4bish if that makes sense.

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree there.

Most people who are 4a are mixed with 4b. "Pure" 4a looks different... it literally coils up similar to what a type 3 does, it has a clumping factor.

It's hard to explain the difference, but I've got both textures in my head. I can feel the difference...

4a likes to clump/coil up and lay down some... 4b says "Aint no way I'm going to clump, I'm going to grow up and out 100%, not down at all and whatcha got to say about it *****?!"

This lady has lovely 4a hair. It's way to tight to be a type 3 anything, but it curls up.

The OP's friend has a lot of 4a too, but it's more "puffy" and resistant to gravity because of the 4b.

I didn't see any 4b either, I'd say only 4a. 4b doesn't have coils at all it's all zigs and zags, just taking a comb to 4a hair doesn't make it 4b, which is why you should type after washing and letting it dry naturally.

I have pure standard 4a and looser 4a hair, I don't have any 4b.

Okay, I would've thought she had 3C hair, MissKinkyCoily....

I always thought 4B hair was hair that looks like the hair these kids have...
