Ok, I am wondering how many ladies would consider getting a sew in to give your hair a break or should I say a rest. My hair was growing pretty good now it looks like my ends are getting a little thin I don't want to cut because I just made BSL not full BSL though. What do you think I should do?

I'm considering a sew-in myself. but still gotta learn how to maintain my hair underneath it before i put it in. One thing's for sure, i will get the expensive "good" hair so that it can last.

I use milky way when I get a sew in.. They really give your hair a break as long as you wash, condition, and oil properly.

I just got my sew in friday just to give my hair a break and it was doing just fine before but I just wanted a break from the roller sets. I hope that I will have good results from it because I want to start wearing them more often so that I can retain more length. I must admit that I was scared at first because my hair was a little tight but not at all now and I feel much better. I am keeping my hair and scalp moisturized and I will wash & conditon it once a week. By the way I used Milkyway REMY hair and I'm glad I did

I seem to have trouble retaining length so, I really want to try it. I've seen alot of ladies have success with using weaves for growth. EDIESE is one member that comes to mind.

I definitely recommend sew-ins for growth. I have retained pretty much all my growth over the last 7-months since wearing a sew-in.

I have tried two brands of hair Extensions Plus and Halley's Curl. I prefer Halley's Curl over EP.

I have retained my length periodically using weaves. I just installed my first weave all by myself and I am pretty excited about it. Now I dont have to wait to get it done and it the first time my real hair is longer than the fake hair. I use Outra, Milky Way, and Sensationel. They are all good hair.

Some Tips:

If you are 10+ post relaxer, be weary of using shampoo when you take down your hair. There is a strong possibility your hair can dred and matte from the shed hair build up. Detangling will take a long time and if your not careful you could lose hair so be warned.

Use a liquid moisturizer as much as possible. It will decrease buildup on the scalp and decrease the itchies.

Dont put damaged hair in a weave. It can make it much worse.

Sew-ins are brilliant and about the only way I retain a lot, make sure

- you wash and condition your hair regularly (every week or two)
- moisturise your own hair underneath (check out www.growafrohairlong.com)
- DO NOT leave the weave in too long your hair will matt! I say max 6-8 weeks.
- when taking down the weave make sure you get someone with brains to cut the thread not your hair.
- after taking out the cornrows, comb as you go along DO NOT wet your hair BEFORE detangling you will end up with a dread up mess.
-ENJOY frying someone (or the horse) else's hair:grin: with the flat iron for a change for those looks you've been envying:gorgeous:

Who said protective styling can't be fun I love extensions

Spritz your hair with a good moisterizer between the cornrolls! I have done this, and I swear by it. When take down comes, your hair will be soft and moist. Not hard and brittle! I am in braids now, but I plan on getting my sew in end of Oct or in Nov!!!
