* My hair is no where near long enough for my liking. I thought once I reached bsl my hair would be long (by all standards), but it's not

*I'm not washing or conditioning my hair as much as I used to. I used cowash or deep condition at least 2x a weak....now I'm lucky if its one every 5-7 days.

*I also find that I'm getting lazy with hair care in general, but I still enjoy it. Dealing with wash and detangling sessions are no joke and sometimes, if I dont feel like rinsing out the conditioner, I leave it in for more than 14 hours while I sleep :look:. which leads to the following point:

* Because of the tangling and knots I experience leaving my hair in its natural state, I've begun to rely on rollersetting ( and often times using my flatiron or straightening comb to smooth out the roots. BUT, I'm retaining more length at a faster rate....without the knots:grin: but I miss just washing and going :ohwell:

Re: As I Approach BSL (or insert longer length)...I'm Finding That (fill in the blank

My hair is thinning :nono: I don't know what could be the culprit but I plan on stretching my relaxer til October while bunning and moisturizing the whole time :yep:.

Re: As I Approach BSL (or insert longer length)...I'm Finding That (fill in the blank

As I approach APL I find that my super thick relaxed hair has a mind of its own and doesn't behave as nicely as it did when it was above shoulder. It makes me want to cut it back to ear length sometimes! And I actually spent about an hour staring at medium length cuts this morning.

Re: As I Approach BSL (or insert longer length)...I'm Finding That (fill in the blank

as i approach bsl im finding that i co wash more often. im using heat less because its taking me longer to flat iron now. im getting a little lazy with my hair because its getting longer and thicker and slightly harder to deal with.

Re: As I Approach BSL (or insert longer length)...I'm Finding That (fill in the blank

As I approach WL, I'm finding that the weight of the extra length causes my hair styles to hang so much nicer...I just love it!

As my hair grows longer I find no need to use heat. I airdry and wrap, thats it. No dryer, no flat iron, and my hair is smooth and wavy. Also as my hair is growing I want my entire body to look as good as my hair so I have stepped up my workout regimine.

Re: As I Approach BSL (or insert longer length)...I'm Finding That (fill in the blank

I need to find new ways to moisturize my hair. I need new conditioners and new daily moisturizers.

Re: As I Approach BSL (or insert longer length)...I'm Finding That (fill in the blank

As I approach WL, I'm finding that:

I've become extremely lazy. I'll CW, but sometimes I'll skip like 2 or 3 days. I might just like my waves, but for the most part it's pure laziness. K.I.S.S. is an understatement.

I'll only detangle every 4 or 5 days. This last time it was about a week.

It still doesn't seem long to me:ohwell: If I look at pics, I'm like okay I got a lil length going but IRL, it just doesn't feel that way.

The more I love my EOs and carrier oils. I'm so co-dependent on JBCO...

More people wanna know what the heck I'm doing, but I just don't feel like talking about it (IRL, not on the boards).

I don't want anyone doing my hair but me. *Off to search for the self-trimmers thread*

Re: As I Approach BSL (or insert longer length)...I'm Finding That (fill in the blank

-my air dried hair looks much nicer
-the longer it gets the more i ache for a hair cut to give it some shape (im waiting for full bsl and then ill probably get some long layers)
-KISS is really starting to ring true for me

See..I used to could do this when my hair was relaxed but now, I have to rollerset and sit under the dryer for almost 2 hours :ohwell:

Re: As I Approach BSL (or insert longer length)...I'm Finding That (fill in the blank

As I approach BSL, I'm finding out that:

  • I still can't find the right protein and moisture balance :ohwell:

  • I shouldn't comb my hair period, wet or dry, it still breaks (probably b/c of #1) :ohwell:
  • I will most likely never be 100% content with the length of my hair until I'm past MBL :ohwell:
  • longer hair does not = more confidence :nono:

Re: As I Approach BSL (or insert longer length)...I'm Finding That (fill in the blank

As I Approach BSL I'm finding that my detangling sessions are becoming more intense. I also have to be more gentle or my strands are easier to snap because I have longer lengths to comb and the ends are alot older.

Re: As I Approach BSL (or insert longer length)...I'm Finding That (fill in the blank

I would love to wear natural hair but I am waiting to get some length then do light texlaxed.

:lachen:That's cute!

Re: As I Approach BSL (or insert longer length)...I'm Finding That (fill in the blank

I find that as I have reached BSL..I am finally spending less time, working on my hair. I find that since I have found a simple but effective routine I spend less time on my hair. I kind of miss the obsessive behavior. But I haven't dropped my guard and gotten lazy and slipped back to my old ways.
Now that I know that I can retain length I feel more confident about my hair. I now believe that I can reach MBL if I just keep doing what I am doing.:yep:

Re: As I Approach BSL (or insert longer length)...I'm Finding That (fill in the blank

As my hair grows to BSL I am finding my hair more managable and thicker.

You are describing my situation to a tee. I just started flat ironing my bsl hair once a week again. I haven't done this in like two or three years. I'm so damn tired of these knots. My experiment is to see if I can maintain my ends and length and still grow my hair. If I can, i'm never going back to wearing my natural hair in its natural state again. Hopefully, all these knots will be gone by next summer with my regular trims once every three months.

Re: As I Approach BSL (or insert longer length)...I'm Finding That (fill in the blank

Im BSL and the longer it gets, the lazier I get lol

Re: As I Approach BSL (or insert longer length)...I'm Finding That (fill in the blank

As my hair grows past BSL, I'm finding that....

I am very lazy...

I want a good trim because anything past BSL is too long for me to handle...

Wigs can be a long haired girl's best friend. I bought a cute shoulder length wig for church. I now know there is no need to cut my hair when I get tired of it. Just put on another wig and go.

People are more likely to listen to me regarding hair care because of my length. Not so much in the past.

This is the truth right here :yep::lachen:

Re: As I Approach BSL (or insert longer length)...I'm Finding That (fill in the blank

As I'am approaching APL/BSL I find out that I care less about length but more about healthy and even hair.
I basically proved myself numerous times that my hair can grow I want even pretty hair so I'll go back to regular trimes every 8-12 weeks.
I'm not as extreme about no-heat and bunning anymore.
So what if it takes me 3-4 months longer to get to my goal,I want to enjoy my hair while growing it out.

Re: As I Approach BSL (or insert longer length)...I'm Finding That (fill in the blank

As I am approaching WL, I find myself getting lazy with my hair:rolleyes:.

Re: As I Approach BSL (or insert longer length)...I'm Finding That (fill in the blank

as i aproach bsl and havent had a relaxer since last october im finding that my hair is growing but its also shedding/breaking/tangling/knotting more:perplexed:wallbash:

Re: As I Approach BSL (or insert longer length)...I'm Finding That (fill in the blank

As I near BSL (I can almost taste it :lick:) I find that I am generally becoming more impatient. It's like I've been close to BSL forever and I just haven't made it there yet.

I also am becoming uninterested in doing my own hair. I am about to start going to a professional again. I don't feel like I have a lot of hair, but when it's time to actually "do" my hair, I lose interest/energy. It's all too time consuming. I think I will only self-relax (I'm texlaxed and don't want anyone to *** that up ) but leave the wraps, updos and rollersets to the pros.

Re: As I Approach BSL (or insert longer length)...I'm Finding That (fill in the blank

As I approach waist length...
the lazier I get.
the more I hate rollersetting.
the more I rethink my hair goals.

Re: As I Approach BSL (or insert longer length)...I'm Finding That (fill in the blank

As I approach MBL, I am finding that I am getting very lazy with my washes. I wash like once every week now. I'll be doing graduate studies from September and I know that washes will become even less frequent:lachen:. I find that it is just so easy to wear it in a bun. My hair looks like a lot in the bun, it's out of my way and well protected.

Re: As I Approach BSL (or insert longer length)...I'm Finding That (fill in the blank

Everyone compliments and tells me how long my hair is but i don't feel the same.:perplexed

Re: As I Approach BSL (or insert longer length)...I'm Finding That (fill in the blank

as i approach BSL i find that i wear my hair up more often than before and i have also gotten lazy about washing and conditioning like i used too....
