Natural Ladies how do you get to your scalp? I have A LOT of hair and I need to know how you wash your scalp. I usually put my hair in sections but I still do get my scalp clean enough. Any suggestions?

well i sap the conditioner or what ever in the out parts of my hair getting as near to scalp as possible and i put it on the centre of my head and then i re-wet my hair and ccomb through it and that does the job.
i never wash in sections and i manage to get my scalp but i don't have the thickest hair in the world any ways

I still haven't figured it out. My hair is very thick and I have never been able to get it completely clean even when using baking soda and doing ACV rinses. Last night I was literally in the shower for 30 minutes washing it and it still didn't come out clean I think it's either my products or technique that's off. :ohwell:

My hair is pretty thick, and it's getting thicker. What I do, is that when my hair is in sections, I make sure that the sections are 'loose' at the roots, and when I'm rinsing 'whatever' out, I hold onto the bottom of the section with one hand, and use the other hand to scratch/massage/rub/clean the scalp in that section very well while it's under the running water.
I apply my 'cleaning agent' the same way - hold the end, and massage it into/onto my scalp very well. By holding onto the end, I reduce the tangles from all of the rubbing that I'm doing.

Sometimes, it's all about the size of the section. When I'm cleaning my hair, it's usually in at LEAST 6 sections, sometimes 8-10, depending on how gunky my scalp is.

thank you for this thread. im transistioning and im finding parts of my hair and scalp still aint clean after im washing. its especially difficult coz i cnt even part my new growth :S

:look:

Can I honestly say that I'm confused as to how/why you can't part your new growth? I'm natural, and can part my scalp down to this:

And I know there's a lot less naps on your head than on mine.

:blush3: I've always been REALLY curious about this - and I thought this would be a good place/thread to ask in....

And not specifically, you, Sheena, because I've heard this before - just - wondering, in general.

yh i think for me personally its coz i have relaxed ends as well. plus, i dnt really comb my new growth :ohwell: so when i do try and part it its a tangled mess lol.

you have to take your time and reach in there with your fingers and MAKE SURE you get every single spot on your head.

i don't know how else to say it. i mean, i had thick relaxed hair too, and i have a big head. i just know i have to take my time when washing, i never try to rush thru it. i guess that's why i like it, it's therapudic

In addition to washing in sections, what also helps is diluting the shampoo in a large bottle of water and pouring that over your head. It like the shampoo is too thick to get down to my scalp sometimes. But if I make a large bottle of soapy liquid, when I pour it on the soapy water can seep down. Then, like LL said, take a few minutes and massage or lightly scratch the scalp all over your head. Then rinse thoroughly.
