Can a roller set be done on natural hair???

I followed it pretty much to a tee except I rolled the hair upwards (at least the Mohawk, the side's are a bit difficult). Use a really good leave-in (I love super skinny serum by Paul Mitchell) & a good heat protector (I use Redken heat glide) & most importantly have your hair sobbing wet, I always have a spray bottle with (cold) water by my side. The wetter the easier and the better the results. Also I dry with heat (I might let it air dry the last twenty minutes though)

I don't have any pictures and right now I'm working out like a madwoman at the gym so I probably wont roller set in a while, but when I do I'll post them.

I know curl formers and flexirods work on natural hair, so I',m guessing a roller set should too.

Yes, of course. After our fortnightly wash as children, my mom used to give us "bangs" by putting a roller at the front of our soaking wet hair, and allowing it to dry. It would come out well. Would last a couple of days.

And she didn't even use any serums or setting lotion or anything like that. Just a bit of grease when it was dry.

I'm sure using your modern products you could do your entire head and get the curls to last quite long.

You can rollerset instead of blowdrying before flat ironing. If I flat iron my air dryed hair it looks a hot mess. It has to be stretched out w/the blowdryer or rollerset first. My rollersets never look as good as the one posted though. I think they turn out better on finer texture hair. My hair is kinky and coarse, my roller sets looks like a fro and end up being pretty pointless unless I"m doing something wrong.

Well, I sat under the dryer and granted I don't have the best dryer but I have never seen more damage on my hair from doing it. I will never do it again. I have fried hard strands (structurally damaged strands) from allowing the hot heat to penetrate the top of my head in one spot for 45 minutes with the rollers in it. Never again. Its not worth it.

actually lovinlockz, the picz u saw or rather u viewed, if im not mistaken, those r picz of macherie'z tutorial video on rollersetting...& yez her texture of hair iz a lil bit straighter which n my opinion givez a betta set....but rollersetz can b dun on all typez of hair...basically itz just technique & product...i believe the lezz product u use, the better the setz....but the choice iz urz....good luck!!!

Yes ma'am you can!Rollersets have been my saving grace.I do them before I flat iron beacuse blowdrying doesn't do anything for me but fry my strands and make my hair bigger which defeats the purpuse.I don't like to airdry because I prefer for hair to be as sleek as possible before straightening.It helps me use less heat and my hair is alot healthier and sleeker.I won't lie and say it'll turn out perfect the first time because it prob. won't.

yep, u will b alright....hang n there....basically itz trial & error...u gotta come up with wat workz best 4 u....even tho tipz r good & helpful, but if they dont work when u do them, then u gotta find out wat doez...good productz will definitely help with ur natural hair...start takin notez now...lol...keep hope alive!!!...good luck on ur transitioning....& keep uz posted!!!

Don't get discouraged.After you find the right combo of products and get the technique down you'll be fine.

Someone suggested Beyond Straight, so I ordered some of that since they had a trial size for 5 bucks.

I might try the SMB if that doesn't work.
