Tigget, I do not like your idea but it's yours so do your thing; I see you did the cards already:ohwell:. I found this site by doing my own research and I love that the majority of people here found it on their own...Trolls are a horrible thing and because many women will not take the time to do the work to gain healthy hair they may do some nasty, envious stuff..but you'll have to experience the backlash to understand what I mean.

Don't do it....it'll destroy this site, trust me. I've been around long before my sign up date (as a reader/lurker) and things aren't the same from then to now w/ people just finding it on their own. If recruited, the quality will really go down.

People who are interested in this and wanting to make a change will find this and other sites like it.

Tigget75....your heart is in the right place and I'm glad this place is working for you. Even tho the site is now a pay-per-play, I think the tone will change if there's widespread recruiting. If you start, others will too. I really don't want people spamming the boards trying to sell stuff and that's sure to happen if the trend catches on. THLC really takes to trends, if you haven't noticed. I'm all for new members, but people tend to come to things like this for very personal reasons. They search and find. At the end of the day, it's an individual journey.

I totally agree.....:perplexed I can only imagine the drama, trolls, naysayers, folks stuck in their ways, folks who would never put the effort into healthy care care practices that many of us do, and folks expecting an overnight miracle that would come on here with the negativity  If folks really want to make a change they will put the effort in to finding it...this site really isn't too hard to find.

WOW, I hadn't thought of it in this manner. Food for thought fer sure.

...But you can't make that stallion use MTG:nono:

lol

most of the ppl i showed this site too think ya'll all have weaves and its just a scam to get $5.00....:lachen: if somebody just google black hair care or something like that, they could find many good hair blog and forums like this and others so if someone asks me about hair related stuff i wont hide it i will tell them..thats my 2 cents

Cosigning with everyone who said let them find it.

Friends and cousins who see me approaching APL and know I've damaged nape-neck length hair for most of my life ALWAYS ask, "so they tell you what to put in your hair to make it grow?" Humans always want quick results, hence miracle grow cremes, and get rich quick schemes. If they were not determined enough to find this site, they WILL NOT [most likely] want to put in the work, or trade style for length and some do. Or they just won't believe it's real.

[All statements above are the thoughts of KelleCarter, and it is strictly her opinion.]

For $6.50 1 year and $13.50 for 2, it's a small price to pay for a vendor to have an audience. There's a few here already and I think recruiting will make bring more. I'm afraid of the vendor aspect. AFAIK, the mods never have done much advertising for this site, so it probably doesn't need any.
i was just thinking about the people coming on here saying stuff like "none of you have MY hair so this is crap" etc...i never even thought about the vendors. i could definitely see someone bootlegging OCT/MT or selling bad quality remy hair on this board, and being able to scam at least a few people before getting shut down!

Ok obviously this is getting out of hand. The only reason I shared this discussion was to state my support of the board and share the news. Seriously.

I stated also in a previous post I would not for the mere fact I didn't have the full picture.

Is it always necessary to get into e-battle anytime someone has an opinion. Again the gesture was not implied to expose a public forum and set it up for malice.

Please understand it was only a thought that I had wanted to share w/ ppl who may need extra tips. On top of that it is just that a PUBLIC forum that can be viewed by anyone, whether they were lead here by a friend or a google search.

Anyways ladies, seriously don't take this where it doesn't need to go. My intent was not to offend only to boast about my sistahs......BUT WOW NEVERMIND!!!!

Now I see why some ppl leave the board, no love, when it doesn't fit everybody. Can i request a refund...:lachen:

aw lawd! girl, i was just going to add my 2 cents. basically in cosmetology school, clear folks would always say we AA's spend ALOT of money on hair care....but it seems as this thread is on a whole new page! oh well, Tigget75 I'm sorry this thread is trying to go down hill...if it gets to out of hand Allandra will close up shop! Sorry sometimes folks can't keep the discussion mature! I guess we're not all ready for what's real.:perplexed

No need for a refund. Do what you think is best! If you see a girl who you think would benefit from this site and you know is seriously going to look into getting her hair into shape than great. If she is willing to work hard enough she can get all that she desires and more from this site. Hell they dont even have to join they can just read through threads and find some techniques that they can try and it may work for them. Even if thats all they do its still a step in the right direction.

Yea can't please everybody...but anywhoo, thanks. I will move on from this. Cause I don't wanna go down known as the Tigget that blew the board up:grin: . I think all the fore-drama that as sparked on here obviously caused this reaction. No biggie moving on. I will do what my heart leads me to do.

Let me ask something. Don't we see thread after thread on here where people have given members tips/comments on their hair that were not asked for? How many of those members took it kindly? Not many.

Some people happen to like their hair greased down, it's just their style. One's hair looking "tore up" may just be there thing. They could look at you with your flowing hair and think it's ugly. Then they become a hater because you both have different styles. To each his own.

Don't go out giving advice to people who haven't asked? Not everyone has the luxury to be concerned about hair, some people have to think about feeding their kids or paying rent at the end of the month. Therefore, if they have to look "tore up" to do that, it's a sacrifice they are willing to make.

Oh wow, I wish a moderator would close this one down, cause this is uncalled for.

I will say this again.....the preception of my thread is wrong. I am not going to be walking around spot checking heads, and I surely am not judging tore up heads. As I stated, the places I frequent, if I engage in conves...I would suggest LHCF. This has been blown out of context.

All it was, was a thought to create a point a reference for ladies who might benefit from it. Who in their right mind would just go up to someone and say you look to'up so here take this card.......SERIOUSLY.

I understand the point you were making and it was very kind-hearted. I don't think anyone was really trying to be mean about it; just trying to give a heads up about impatient people, etc.

You mean well, I can see that. But don't mess with a black woman and her hair, even if it is to'up.:perplexed Hell, I think someone would be trying to tell me something, when they pass out cards for getting braids done.:lachen:People have other concerns. While people wear weaves, not many people think having their 'own' long hair, is important to them. So women are just trying to get through the heavy everyday life situations to really care about healthy longer hair:ohwell:. My take, if it comes up, let them now about this site. But, that's all you can do!

OP I understood what you meant and I also agree with you saying you'd only give out the card if the person was really asking you for advice/guidance. On a personal level, I kinda look at discovering and joining lhcf as my "rite of passage" ...an important life decision/ transition into better hair maintenance:lachen: However I was at that point where I was truly ready and real serious about it...

Yea but even if I was to do that, the card could fall into the wrong hands and take this public/accessible board down:ohwell:...so I've been warned.

So I opt not to do the 'card' thing. I will just spread 'if inquired' by WOM.

I kept thinking this over, and it is a sweet feeling knowing I happen to find the site on my own....so all views are understood. :rosebud:

I understand you , here in Belgium I've tried to interrest women aroud me but Ihave no succes , my hair will be the best advertising , most of people don' t speak english and even when i've found a french hair sites they told me it' s very complicated ...

Tigget75, I think that is so sweet making cards. If you gave me a card I would def. check it out. I feel that if you can get threw to one person, it is worth it. Funny thing is, I am a chatter box when it comes to hair care. It bothers me to walk into a bss and see OUR people in there buying products they either don't need or don't work. Further more, to go to families houses and see them using the same products. I tell EVERYONE about LHCF and if they take my advise that is one step closer to healthy hair care. If they don't, well than " DON'T ASKED ME ABOUT MY D"MN HAIR THEN". Ok that was a little harsh of me:rolleyes:. I love the card idea. I think it is easy to just hand them a card (when asked) instead of standing there for an hour to explain:grin:.

Yea I've gotten some PM over this...supportive of the idea. Thank you for understanding what my comment was all about.

I personally see nothing wrong w/ this. I have given this a lot of thought today, and even after all the negative commentary, it still lead me back to my original caring intent.

For the most part, i will share w/ whom I please, and of course they can take it or leave it. But w/ this being open public accessible forum, the only privacy one would have is NOT TO BE A MEMBER OF ONE. But anywhoo I will move as God leads me to do. I want to share the good news about this forum....of course the postiveness of it. I think its safe to say we all are on the same page of wanting good results for our hair, and why not spread the info throughout the african descent community so that we all can be above any negative image stereotyped of us anyway.

I for one get tired of being asked why won't your hair grow, or why do you keep your hair short? How long is your real hair under that wig? Or some even go as far as to request a certain appearance of me because they don't like the style of my wig, hair, pony or whatever that day. Mostly this comes from white ppl.

Surely having this info out there couldn't possibly upset the moderators, as they have the protocol set to disrupt any malice when started.

Again thanks.

Thank you. We don't want to loose this precious site. Word of mouth is just fine.

Bump- I have a friend who is really into haircare but I am apprehensive about giving her info about this site because I don' know if she will pay and I don't want her to give me the side eye) lol!. Should I still give her this site info and have her make the decision? Should I just give her some info from this site and not the site address?

I made little cards and I slip them into some women's bags when they are not looking I wonder if any of them are lurking well if you are hi. LOL

natstar, she doesnt have to pay to browse the forum. I lurked for a good while before I actually paid so I could enjoy the other benefits of being a paid member.

I have plenty of friends with jacked up hair but I do not want to offend them by directing them here, since they did not ask for help :p
