I see several people that pull out the scissors and get to cutting! So I am wondering what most have done.

I did most of it at home and went to a stylist to trim off the residual straight pieces and to give me a nice even shape (Figured it was cheaper to do it that way:look:)

i did but left some relaxed ends off because i didnt know if i could grip my hair if it were shorter :nono:
i should have chopped it all at once

ME and my mom...we just went in the bathroom and started hacking. its probably uneven but i dont plan on straightening for at least another month, so we will see...lol

Me and my hubby did. I cut with the scissors first and then he went over it with the clippers. :drunk:

I went to a Korean barber that was located within walking distance to my house. I just wanted to hurry up and get it done, before I changed my mind, and they were really close to my home. I know they talked about me the whole time, but she did a good job.

I asked my hair dresser to do it and she suggested I wait... So I waited 2 weeks and instead of rollersetting my hair I just grabbed scissors and cut it all off. I went from APL to 5 1/2 inches of hair. It was very liberating and I'll never do it again! The only downside is that its uneven and I really don't have a "hair style" per say.

I've BC'd a few times. Once I did it myself with the clippers...not a good idea...lol. I left a small ball spot in my hair. The other two times my husband did it. Each time I shaved to a buzz cut.

I did it.
My hair is very uneven, and I'm really good at cutting my own hair
but I guess the way my natural hair grew in...
kind of messed me up...
I'll get it evened out in maybe 6 months.
I want to see length and you really can't tell it's uneven
the way I wear it everyday
I DO NOT trust stylist... so... that was never an option

I had to do it myself , the lady at the salon refused to do it saying i had no NG (i had about 2 inches) ... i told her all she has to do was wet it because my hair tends to get straight while in a ponytail but she wasn't even listening. After crying on my way home, my baby at the time cane over and cut the back while i cut the front ... and i didnt have to pay him :drunk:

look at jetcitygirl. When I saw her avatar, I thought of you.
I like you how you have it up by the way.

With my last one, my stylist reluctantly did it. It was like pulling teeth though. She would only cut like an inch at first until I told her, "no I want you to cut it" and showed her. Q

I did my own mini chops and bc. It was easy to see the two textures because I transitioned for 11 months. I figure why pay someone to do something I can do.:yep:
:ot: Why does it seem like when a person wants a bc the stylist won't do it, but when a person goes in for a trim they get a bald fade???

I had about 4 inches of NG and everywhere I called said that I would have to go to a barber. Um...no. So I had my best friend do it (she did her own as well). I told her to leave on a few relaxed ends, but I wish I told her to get rid of all of them. It would've saved me a lot of clipping myself.

:lachen::lachen:Right!!

I just BC'd 12 days ago and I had my sister in law do it. She does hair all the time even though she's not a licensed stylist. Her hair is natural so she was al to willing to do it. She shaped it up quite nicely too.

So true. I would not let, nor would she do it, my current stylist do my bc. I have not been to her in a minute. My last relaxer was Novemer 2007 and she does not know how to GENTLY deal with my tranistioning hair. SO, I have been wearing sew ins and doing to the Dominicans once er' few months.

I did it myself. lol, after having more than several BAD (I mean BAD!) experiences at salons with numerous bumbling idiots toting scissors, I decided, especially in this case, that WASN'T NO ONE coming near my head with NOTHING. :lachen:

I'd rather mess up and be mad at myself than straight up ASSAULTING a hairdresser for her messing me up. :ohwell:

My hair was uneven so I grabbed a pair of scissors and decided to even it myself, then I realized that some parts were really low...so, I grabbed a one of those razors with the handle and proceeded to shave my head.
