is the chi really better than the sedu?

from reading the reviews on folica, i would think the sedu is the better iron but you hardly ever see anything about the sedu on this board. or its heat protectant spray.

1 star for a legitimate question? Anyhoo, I'm not sure if it just comes down to personal preference or what. At some point, I've owned both and liked both but I preferred the Sedu while my sister confiscated my Chi. I know some say the Chi breaks easily, but I'm wondering if these are people who use it everyday. Sorry, I'm sure that wasn't much help.

I have both CHI original and a Sedu, I prefer the Sedu hands down. I have 4a/b midback hair and I have been stretching for the past 6 months, couldn't have done it with out the Sedu. I gave the CHI to some as a gift.

Just my opinion.

ikr, nggas be nursing vendettas on this board, freal...:rolleyes::rolleyes:

anyhoo, this is exactly the kind of comment i was hoping for, from someone who has used both of them :yep::yep::yep: im beginning to think there is just more praise for the chi simply because its less expensive and more people have actually used it

:wallbash: I really don't know which one to buy now, it's so 50/50. I heard just as much good reviews on the sedu as the CHI :wallbash:

I was thinking the same thing too...and to top it off, she's new, so it's not like she's been here for years and just didn't read or ignored the previous threads. That's just crazy.

BTW, I have tried the Sedu. I liked it...sorry, but I haven't tried the Chi.

I have both and I like the Chi better. It straightens my hair better than the Sedu but my hair doesn't revert as quickly when I use the Sedu. I haven't given up on it yet but I have no problems with my Chi so I gravitate towards that since I know it always performs well.

I have had my Chi for over 3 years now and have had no problems with it. The most important thing is not to wrap the cord around the iron. Doing this will cause it to not heat up after a while.

I did a comparison of the Chi vs. the Sedu in my fotki.

HTH

I am glad you asked this question because this is my current debate as I am in the market for a flat iron. The reviews I have seen have also favored the Sedu. I am still trying to decide which I want.

Ditto! I gave my CHI to my sister. I love my Sedu.

I think it depends on your hair type honestly; I used my friends Sedu and I didn't like the results; on low it didn't get my hair straight, nor was there any shine/sheen; on a higher setting, my hair just smelled burnt and my new growth did not get any straighter. Now when I go to the salon, they use chi and in one pass, i'm golden.

Maybe the site you order from would have a 30-60 day return policy. Try one, if you don't like it, get another. Or try one, if you like it, send it back anyway, try the other one, if you like it better, keep it, if not go back to another one. HTH

you never hear about it seriously? all i hear/read about on here is the sedu...now i have a solia, and i rarely hear about that...

...but to answer your question i have regrets sometimes for not getting the sedu, cause i heard it was THAT GOOD. i will try to find some threads for you.

I love my Sedu(s). :yep: I have a 1" and a 1 1/2".Never tried the Chi. I love that the Sedu plates are flat and smooth so my hair never gets snagged. At first I was kinda non-plussed b/c the outside got hot, and on my previous iron I could press the plates together with my fingers, I thought it gave more tension and straighter hair. NOW, I use the comb chase method - so I have perfect tension and don't have to touch the outside of the plates at all.

SEDU + SMB and a fine tooth comb = ridiculous results. My hair comes out VERY smooth - no tangling, and silky ends with no frizz.

I have a sedu 1 1/2 inch don't really like it. I thought I was getting a one inch but they gave me the wrong one.

Haven't tried the chi but whatever iron you get get a one inch. I was debabting on what my next flat iron would be a sedu or a chi. I like the sedu just not that it's to big to style with on my SL hair.

the last iron i purchased was a chi and I've used it twice. Unfortunately I didn't get the results I expected; in fact my Jilbere ($40) gave me better results. My next purchase in august will be the sedu because of all the good things i've heard about it on this board and on the folica website. i'll probably put my chi on ebay or something
